Help, Confused About Lore

i recently found this site, and I want to apply, but the biography is really hard as I cannot figure out the lore. Please help.

yeah I know, what I am confused about is what year it is in the game right now, and how this would effect a 45 year old mountain dwarf. Plus did the map change, and how long ago in game

Map changed about 5 or 6 years ago in game.
