Shiloh Atatis 194 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Intermittent updates. An in-character sketchbook, including some canvas paintings. Please do not metagame any information found in this book. ~~ VAILOR ARTWORK Spoiler field on the way to town Spoiler practice Spoiler Caliphate, passerby, self-sketch attempt Spoiler On the back of this picture reads "For my sweetest friend, from Shiloh." This piece has been removed from the sketchbook for delivery. Spoiler Sir August. One page has been carefully removed from the book for delivery, but there's a very similar duplicate in its place. Spoiler My littlest friend, Martin. Passerby. Spoiler Reminder sketch for leaving and returning. Yells at others dark or elven. Do not approach gate when working. Get name. Guard, Peter? Peyton? Spoiler Two instances of this person have been drawn. One has just the picture, and looks particularly well done. The second one has just as much care put into it, but a little more. On the side, there is information: Archibald. Proclaimed fugitive, would not say his crime but stated that no one was harmed. Said he was hiding out here. Also sees family and friends here.Tan skin with brown eyes. Dreadlocks to shoulders. Last in Al Wakrah. Spoiler venting... Spoiler Spoiler May not be accurate...happened too fast to see him too well. The hastiness of this drawing seems deliberate, as though she didn't want to draw it for too long. Spoiler The writing here is small and on the margins of the drawing, almost as if to hide it, yet still make it a part of the art itself somehow. Venting...I'm so silly. I'm so, so silly. Why I thought I would be any different to you is beyond me. You are the moon leaving stars in your wake and I am the sun. Always just out of reach. Spoiler A self portrait, as requested by Sir August. This will have to do, for now. Spoiler The Caliph during Open Court. Spoiler ' This sketch has been removed for delivery. A note is along the backside of another picture: Jotosava. I don't know how to draw Kha yet, it looks like...I'm sure he doesn't look entirely like a domestic cat... Spoiler This sketch has been carefully removed for delivery. Naffog. Every year I'm getting better...even if it is little by little... Spoiler This sketch has been carefully removed for delivery. Hogarth Irongut. Turned out more solemn than intended, but I still like it. Spoiler A very large canvas painting of Jace Bracchus, sent out for delivery. Although not in the sketchbook, a note about it has been included in the sketchbook: I completed my first large project. I'm terrified. I see so many mistakes that I wasn't able to correct very easily. Maybe it's my nerves. I'm proud of it, but I'm practically shaking out of my boots...I don't want to disappoint, especially not someone so important. Spoiler A huge canvas sits covering most Shiloh's wall in her studio. On the back of the cloth canvas, there's a small message: "The day the sun returns is the day the world will start to get better." Spoiler Another painting on a massive canvas. Spoiler Scrawlings of the Cloud Temple. Looks like she gave up on this one. There's a few notes under the man's portrait: "August called him Sam. Very interesting fellow, nice to look at." If one looks carefully behind this picture, there are several attempted self-portraits that had been almost violently erased and smudged out. Looks like she didn't want them to be easily seen from the hastiness of this strange picture... Spoiler A painting of the forest of color. In one of the pink petals, there's a tiny message, if one can ever find it: "I hate painting hydrangeas." Spoiler Two elves, one poised as a mannequin with a deadened expression. There's a lot of malice that can cause some viewers to become discomforted if stared at for too long. The word "duplicate" has been carefully written on the back of this one in small font. Even the font seems more tense, more forceful, than Shiloh's usual flowing, curvy writing... Spoiler This large canvas has been wrapped and prepped for delivery. Nestled into the spine of the canvas in the back, there's a small note with flourishing hand-writing: May your love and happiness grow as you build your new life together. Congratulations on your wedding! Spoiler A juggler at the docks. Her audience left her with no applause, from what I could see. But she was rather good. She'd taken off before I could clap, so I drew this to applaud her performance instead. Spoiler A portrait prepped for delivery. Spoiler A sketch, prepped for delivery. Amethu Deneseth.A very interesting man. I met him once I'd gotten my new studio-home. Spoiler Already, a massive mural is now stretched across the ceiling of the new studio. The clouds, if one looks close enough, seem to go on forever and ever. Spoiler Up the stairs in her studio stands another massive mural. It seems to never end, and those who can see closely into the center may either think it leads forever, or see something else entirely... Although this is clearly not in her sketchbook, there is a note about it. I wanted to see if I could pull on people's emotions, see what this mural could make others feel. I want to learn how to play on people's ideals and thoughts through my paintings, not just play on their egos with portraits. Spoiler Ceruberr. I see him at the docks very often. I'm not sure why I waited so long to sketch him, really... He seems rather interesting. Handsome fellow, too. Spoiler This doodle feels partially rushed, unfinished. Spoiler Another quickly done sketch, possibly to catch the moment as quickly as possible before the subjects moved away. The word "duplicate" has been written in small font on the back of this picture. In quotations, it looks like she's titled this one "Dock Sightings: Elf Takes Job as Ghoul's Teacher." Maybe I should start doing a series of who and what I see at the docks - I spend enough time there, I'm sure I'm bound to fill an entire book on the happenings that go on there. Especially if I find particularly eye-opening events like these. Who knew Celandine was such an avid supporter of Ghouls? Spoiler This sketch has been prepped for delivery, the word "duplicate" written in small font on a similar picture. Benjamin. It's nice to know there are some people out here who have hearts of gold. A true refresher after the mess I've been experiencing for the last few years. Spoiler These two paintings stand side by side. Rather large, but not nearly as large as her murals. The first one depicts a serpent rising out of the sea, gripping what looks like the moon in its massive maw. There's traces of blood trickling down its mouth as well. The second is of personified versions of the sun and moon, with a snake in between. All three look like they're in the midst of a fight. There's a note about them in the sketchbook. These were going to be a part of a story-like series, but halfway through I had to ask myself if it was truly worth any of the effort, let alone worth displaying. The meanings behind them mean much to me, but now that I've put my energy and anger into these paintings...I have no more to give. I've let the story that serves as the foundation for these paintings make something productive. Something positive out of a years-long situation that was naught but a laughable slap in the face in the end. And that, in itself, helped me take back that lost dignity and respect that one of these inspirations cruelly took from me. Perhaps that's why the inspirations of these pictures met - so that I can have a better chance at moving upwards and onward to things far greater than they ever can be, to finally crush this story under my heel and never look back. Looking at these, however, I still feel that same anger and hurt welling up again. Perhaps these will be the first paintings I decide to burn... But they turned out so well. ...I'll need more time to think on that. Spoiler A portrait of Za'Kabar and Shiloh, prepped for delivery. For once, Shiloh has portrayed herself without the sun-head, and with a smile. In fact, she looks happier than she ever has before. In the grooves in the back of the canvas, there's a note tucked away: My dearest friend! Even in the smallest of ways, you've helped me so much. You've pulled me out of the darkest of hours and inspired me in the greatest of ways. Truly, I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done for me. Your friend, Shiloh Spoiler Several painted posters have been created, all featuring a bard holding either a guitar or violin. His name is shown on a banner on each poster. They're all packed carefully away in a small box. Atop of them is a small note with a doodled sun in the corner. Naz, If you ever need more of these, just let me know. I'd be happy to make more for you. ~ Shi Spoiler A demigryph. The painting itself looks a touch messier than Shiloh's normal works, but not to a degree of laziness. It feels as though she was attempting something different in this one. There's a note of it in her sketchbook: I should have gone to see how the fight actually turned out. At least to see the demigryph - it'd be nice to paint it accurately rather than scrawling something from a flat, boring image on a poster. Spoiler A poster. It's been carefully tucked away for delivery to someone. So far, multiple posters have been made of this man. Only two currently have only the name "Valentine" listed. Any others have the information listed- In tidy, small cursive, there are details on the back of the poster in the bottom-left corner of the page: Name: Valmuel. Known alias: "Valentine." 6 or 7 feet tall. High Elf. Attempted break-in, trespassing, threats of bodily harm to multiple persons, destruction of property. Known void mage and mental mage. [[IF THIS POSTER IS GIVEN TO YOU IN-CHARACTER, YOU NOW HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS INFORMATION.]] Her signature is on this one, along with a small sun. Spoiler A sketch of what seems to be a family of gnomes. The sketch has been sent via pigeon to the recipients for delivery. A note is also accompanying the picture: I've finished your sketch! It was so lovely to meet you, and I can't thank you enough for the doll! I've been going through some rather difficult times and your kindness was able to pick me up immensely. I've even given it a name - Joy. It fits, I would think! If you're ever in the city again, don't hesitate to come and say hello! ~Shiloh Spoiler A smaller painting. This one feels like it could have been a practice piece. Spoiler A large painting stands proudly amongst Shiloh's other completed works. There's a note about this painting in her sketchbook... I had a dream the other night - it was about a girl who could control the rain. She never looked at me, and she looked far away. When I would reach out to her, I would feel mist passing through my fingers. I don't know what it was about this little girl, but I felt hazy looking at her. The scene never changed, either. She just stood in the rain she created around her until I woke up. It really stuck with me and I couldn't let go of the image, so I put it down on canvas. Spoiler Many, many experimental works have been created. One of them seems to have the subjects dangling from the frame itself, even dropping coins from it. Someone with a well-trained eye might be able to see her trick and how Shiloh was able to manage it. Spoiler Smaller works have been included in the sketchbook. It looks like these have a variety of painting styles to them, some watercolors, some other mediums. Again, it looks as though the artist was only attempting to push her imagination's limits, if anything. Mere practice. Spoiler A personal painting. Spoiler There seems to be something very off about this portrait in particular. On the back of the canvas, it's titled " Shameful Nameless." Spoiler The painting here is huge. The waves intimidatingly large against the child in the center. A medium-sized picture. It looks like it was made in a style that deviates from Shiloh's normal works. A family portrait. AXIOS ARTWORK The three Atatis children, standing on an intimidatingly long road. One of the twins looks up at their big brother, as if expecting him to know what to do next. There's a note pinned to the back of the canvas with a leaky quill. I had meant to line up the world for you. To make sure you grew up in a place where you didn't have to deal with being uprooted from home, your lives turned upside down. Somewhere where you could grow with your own people as your papa and I did, with not a worry in sight. I didn't see something as huge as this around the corner. And now you wait impatiently, thinking that one day the land will get better enough for us to return to Haven Isle. I haven't the heart to tell you that it just cannot happen. My sunsparks, joys of my life - you'll have all you need and then some here. You have Mama's honor on that.

Shiloh Atatis 194 Author Share Posted August 24, 2015 Stretching her arms over her head, she looks at her latest work with pride. It's not too often she gets to try her hand out at drawing animals. She hoped her newest friend would like the picture as she prepped it carefully for delivery.

Shiloh Atatis 194 Author Share Posted August 26, 2015 With an arched brow, she carefully tears out the page with Archibald's likeness with no writing on it. "'That's odd,'" she murmurs with a slight imitation of his voice, "'I thought that sketching pictures was an activity more suited for children.' You forget, friend-- Mountains can be moved by the pen alone, as can hearts." She closes the sketchbook, patting it. "And, if the time calls for it, authorities can use sketches as wanted posters." Shiloh Atatis 194 Author Share Posted August 30, 2015 Staring at the last picture, she puts down the graphite and grips her hand, trying to steady it from shaking. She's not easy to startle or unnerve -- however after narrowly escaping being punched by yet a second individual, this one being much starter than the first one she encountered...and his terrible demand-- She snaps the book shut and closes her eyes tight. No more art today.
Shiloh Atatis 194 Author Share Posted September 7, 2015 After giving the picture one final look, she lets herself sink into her seat, putting her graphite away. She wrings her wrist, looking fatigued. "I never knew orcs were so demanding to draw..."
idiot 502 Share Posted September 14, 2015 I particularly love the picture of Sir August. But I love all of the pictures. Great work! Maybe I should gather up some of my medieval drawings and make a post like this.

She's already looked over the painting for two hours to make sure it looked all right. She unwraps the paper to take another look at the painting. Better check again, to make sure it looks all right...
