osumanduas 1442 Share Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Within a secret chamber deep below the Felsenic Cathedral, the seven Heptarchs gather together around a circular table visible within the stone chamber. A monk would stand to the side of the entrance, holding the only key to the room bound by tradition to keep key within his possession until a vote has been finished. "As we all unfortunately know, our fair Pontiff has passed. GOD must choose his successor from among you holy men. He must attain the required majority four of seven votes. We shall continue this endeavor until one of you can rise to claim the golden laurels of Horen, which our old friend wore with such dignity. Write your vote on a piece of parchment as provided and grant it to me. By the end, with GOD's help we will find his chosen Vicar." "Speak amongst yourselves, those of you who wish to announce their candidacy, do so, DEUS MAGNUS." Vote only if you are listed below (Please refrain from posting if you are not listed below.) VL 298 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Johannes of Riga waits for the church members to announce their candidacy. He is a fairly obscure clergyman with unknown motives, and by the nervous looks of the others in the Synod towards his person, it seems that he has significant power in the electoral vote. Heff 2460 Share Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Prince-Archbishop Fernando of Cordobe, rises from his seat. "Friends, brothers, fellow-clergy. We are all bound by an oath, one to GOD and His Church. Each has his own calling and duty, but we all must do what we feel is necessary to preserve our sacred tradition. As Everard passes into the Seven Skies, a man is needed to step into his vacant shoes. To bear his burden, his laurel, and his cross. All here have been given a seat in the Synod due to their piety and devoutness to the Church, but only one may be named Pontiff." He pauses, taking a breath. "I urge you all to consider myself for this position. I seek not it for power, but as I feel it is my duty. My Father died for his mistakes, but he was a pious and devoted man nonetheless. I will not make his same mistakes, I will ensure we are in good standing with all faithful. The Church has just come from an era of great expansion. From the Crusade, the crowning of the Holy Orenian Emperor, the foundation of the Patriarchy of the Malinor, and many other endeavours. It is time that we look inward, to solidify ourselves. After every great conquest, a nation looks to its inner workings so that it may stand strong. We must build ourselves up from the inside, now is the time to organize the missions and convents, to bring a new generation of clergy into our fold, to erect a bustling capital of the Canon in Visiga. I cannot insult Peredono, for I know he is a pious man and dedicated to his diocese. I will leave it up to you all to decide who you wish to lead you, but I pray that you choose me for I will bring the Church from its era of glorious expansion into a strong and stable era of peace. Pax Canonista." He sits, awaiting the others to speak. Edited December 14, 2015 by Heff

Cleggmire_ 130 Share Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) The solemn clergyman, Peredono of Valenza, rises from his own chosen seating, his eyes scouring the congregation with a magnanimous glower. A hushed murmur would invigorate his demeanor, as he croaks out with a sudden buoyancy in his tone. "Your Eminences, the people I share my faith, and my heart to, it is here we gather to handle the sudden passing of our dear Pontiff, his Holiness Everard the Second of that name. It is with a holy heart, that we must elect one of our own to rise above the others, and continue the tradition that the church has held so closely to since the beginning of time. Therefore, I present myself before you all on this day, that you may choose that one man to represent humanity, to represent GOD." The adorned Archbishop would huff, his lips furling into a smile, one of serene understanding despite the dreaded events that have occurred beforehand. "I would continue the work that my superiors once furled from the ashes, and sweep away the corruption, the unholy, to restore our Holy lands to a refurbished peace. That dream once stood in the eyes as I approached his Holiness's sacrosanct church. I undertook my oaths - my thesis, and drove my mind to the peace that not many others but the men and women in the Seven Skies itself have felt. That dream is within a tangible existence, here, and now. My dearest clergymen - my dearest brothers of the faith, I beseech you in this decision that you will chose what is true for this righteous faith." And with those ebullient words, the bishop would take his seat, digits enveloping around the cross in an enlightened fashion. The surrounding clergymen would look about amongst themselves, a hearkened atmosphere set about the room. It is clear, their minds, and souls are set. Haribo 385 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Clemens August von Pondt sat up in his chair upon hearing his name, after much contemplation he writes a name onto the piece of paper and deposits it in the basket. "God wills it." He'd mutter under his breath as he does so.
osumanduas 1442 Author Share Posted December 15, 2015 At the adherence of the Archbishop Peredono we will proceed with the vote. Heptarch Edward Jrent sends his regards via courier from the palace. states the lowly Monk. The Monk coughs, reciting the votes. "Fernando .""Fernando.""Fernando.""Peredono.""Peredono.""Peredono." The Monk sucks in a breath, his words hanging upon his breath. "Fernando of Cordobe..." FERNANDO OF CORDOBE HAS WON THE REQUIRED MAJORITY.
