HOUSE OF SARKOZ

LINE OF KAROVIC-SARKOZY, HEIR TO THE BLACK BARBOV

‘We Come As Crows’

STANDING PATRIARCH - Otto var Hugo Sarkozic

STANDING HEIR - Stefan var Otto Sarkozic

STANDING KAROVIC’S HAND - To be filled

HOUSE STANDING - The Line of Karovic stands in three branches which come from the seed of Holy Orenian Emperor Sigismund I; its eldest branch, Ostrovic, once Kings of Renatus and Salvus, later Lords in the Adrian March and the mountains of Carnatia; Perhaps most prestigious of the lines, the Tuvic branch, resuming the titles of Holy Orenian Emperor through three persons: Tobias I, Boris I, and Alexander I. And lastly, the Rikovic branch, which had held lofty titles under the warrior-king Henry I but has now faded in nonexistence.

Other cousin lines include the House of Kovac, derived from Kovac Karovic who defeated the Mountain King and was granted his lands in reward, which now sits as minor lordlings within the Empire. The House of Vladov, which stood as Dukes in their own right, now under the care of Lord Josef Vladov, serving as an Imperial General of the Empire. The House of Barbov, which stood through as Duke through two persons, Karl I and Siguine I, with its last scion a mere maid within the court of Courland. And lastly, the House of Ruther, which was exiled after their hand in the Franciscan Massacre and now partakes in the pirating of the Autumn Sea.

HOUSE CULTURE - The Line of Karovic is predominantly Raevir, and thus Highlander, though the family has shifted more towards Heartlander traditions, forming a melting pot of Raevir and Heartlander. The line claims descent from Saint Joren of Paradisius, son of Horen, as well as Karol the Raven, who unified a majority of the Raevir states during the infamous Elk Wars.

HOUSE HOLDINGS - The House of Sarkozy-Carrion currently holds the Duchy of Carnatia, dominating the northern Vieren Basin, as well as numerous minor titles therein.

HOUSE RELICS - The Boyar Cap, once worn by Karol the Raven and his heirs, is the symbol and cornet of the Lord Carrion.

His Son, STEFAN VAR OTTO SAKROZIC [Reserved] (1535-) - A mere child, the heir to the Duchy of Carnatia.

His Brother, TOBIAS VAR HUGO SARKOZIC [VonAulus] (1511-1514) - A curious toddler who took sanctuary in the Cathedral of St. Lothar during the Sack of Brelus, Tobias was slain by the collapsing church beams in the fires that consumed the church during the sacking. He was killed alongside the halfling priest Fiddle of Lenfarthing, who was charged with his safety.

His Sister, ELEANOR VAS HUGO SARKOZIC [DeathToDibley] (1510- ) - A ginger-haired maiden who has recently taken the vows of monasticism.

His Father, HUGO VAR VICTOR SARKOZIC [dibliusmaximus] (1495-1513) - The Duke of Adria, Count of Owynswood and Brelus, Warden of Novellen and the Karlsfork, later Lord Paramount of the Duke's League, commonly called Hugo the Headless or Hugo the Harlot. Reputed as a wild yet mannered youth, Hugo was the eldest son of Victor to his Chivay wife, from which Hugo garnered his blonde and lithe complexion from. A charismatic and witty lordling, Hugh enjoyed wine and adventure  over his traditional education in Owynswood, preferring dangerous trysts with young maidens in the country and partaking in the numerous courtly balls and festivities. It was not until he was caught in fornication with Madeliene Horen within a cathedral, sister of Emperor John, that he changed his lifestyle; marrying his paramour and securing his spot as the Duke of Adria after dealings with his Vladovic cousins and Heartlander vassals.

Despite his free-spirited nature, Hugo molded Adria into a commercial and martial hub, ordering the creation of Adria's new capital upon the banks of the Novellen Delta. Relations deteriorated with the Savoyard lords, however, and after multiple fights between his Vladovic cozs and the Druscan Gentry as well as the disastrous Wett Massacre which gave Hugo a near mortal wound, Hugo had little choice but to revolt. Joined by his Tuvic cousin, the Duke Siguine, and the Vanirs of Vanaheim, Hugo was declared Lord Paramount of the Duke's League, demanding King Olivier abdicate and justice served for the Wett Massacre. Whilst winning scores of skirmishes, young Hugo was slain by a Marked Man’s blade before the pivotal Battle of Novellen.

Hugo sired two sons, Otto and Tobias with the latter slain during the Siege of Brelus, and a daughter named Eleanor.

His Mother, MADELIENE HOREN [Meguzara] (1496 - 1514) - Aunt of Emperor John I Frederick and wife to Hugo. Madeliene was the young Hugo's childhood sweetheart and lover. After being found in the ceiling of the Cyriaum Cathedral with the nude Hugo during a tryst, the pair were forcefully married on the spot. Their union became shaky soon after, though the pair remained faithful and found their original love after a few drawing years. Madeliene was killed in the Siege of Brelus, being beaten, raped and killed while enroute to the Cathedral of St. Lothar.

His Aunt, LILYA VAS VICTOR SARKOZIC [Nummy] (1496-) - Daughter to Victor var Otto, Adelyne married the Lord Kazamir Vladov.

Her Husband, KAZAMIR RURIKOVIC VLADOVIC [SpookyLean] (1470-) - Renowned warrior of the Vladovic gens, Kazamir was reputed as a fierce warrior and talented commander during the Schism War and Fifth Dwarf-Human War.

His Uncle, FRANCIS VAR VICTOR SARKOZIC [Alty] (1497-1514) - The Baron of the Stricklands, commonly called Franz the Faultless. Younger brother of Hugh, Francis preferred the sword and mare to his eldest's debauchery, becoming a famed equestrian during his youth and the Duke's War. Francis carried his mother's handsome features yet his father's Crow plume, a dark-haired man in contrast to his eldest's golden locks. He was granted a barony to house his small retinue east of the city of Brelus.

Francis contented  himself with his minor estate and took no stock in attaining the title of Lord Paramount of the Duke’s League. Instead, the brash Duke Sigiune Barbanov won the title and Franz fought for the memory of his slain brother in Battle of Novellen. However, with the defeat that followed the pitched battle, he retired to his estate, finding the war a lost effort. When the Siege of Barrowyk ended in disaster for the rebel cause, Francis rode to Felsen to negotiate peace. There, he was detained and executed despite his minimal role in the revolt, an easy scapegoat to appease loyalist masses.

His First Cousin, DIERICK BARROW [Alty] (1514-) - Born to Francis and a serving maid, the Barrow is currently missing, hidden away by a loyal rider once under Francis' command.

His Uncle, ERIC VAR VICTOR SARKOZIC [Cjmate8] (1499-1513) - The youngest son of Victor var Otto and his Chivay wife, Eric lived a gentle and uneventful life. Eric excelled in the arts of stewarding, mastering the trade under the monk Ostromir of Flotsam, who consequently was his own uncle. Eric married the Horen scion Katerina of Marna, and stayed in Brelus when the Duke’s War started. He was ran down by Istrian hounds during the Sack of Brelus, his body thrown into an unmarked grave.

Eric bore only one son, Roy var Eric, before his untimely demise.

His Aunt, KATERINA OF MARNA [DieDibley] (1499 - 1513) - Katerina of Marna, of the House Horen of Marna, was the daughter of a lone baron sworn under the Dukes of Adria. She was betrothed to the young Eric var Victor at a young age, to where they married at the meager ages of fourteen. Katerina bore Eric one son, before she herself dying in the Sack of Brelus.

His First Cousin, ROY VAR ERIC SARKOZIC [Cjmate8] (1512-) - The son of Eric and Katerina, currently in the company of the Court of Courland.

His Grandfather, VICTOR VAR OTTO SARKOZIC [Zezimus] (1444-1510) - The Count of Owynswood, Victor was born as the youngest son to King Otto I, Imperial Crown Prince, and the Horen scion Isabella. Like his other kin, Victor held the strict Karovic features passed by the Black Barbov himself, the pinnacle looks of Ruskan nobility. Victor’s father, the King Otto, was abducted shortly after his birth and Victor was sent with his uncle, then Radomir I and later King Francis I, to the Autumn Sea and then Aeldin. Victor was reputed as a gruff and serious man, learning the arts of combat and the courtly traditions of Oren and Aeldin. He chose not to return when his uncle went to claim his spot in Old Oren as King, but instead stayed in Aeldin and planned with his elder brother and third son of Otto I, Paul de Montfort.

Victor and Paul set sail to Oren when their bastard uncle Tobias took the Imperial Throne of Oren, with Paul granted the Barony of Montfort and Victor living in the Imperial Capital. After the demise of Alexander I, Victor secured himself the County of Owynswood from the Briarwood family, taking the name Sarkozic after his family’s claim to the patriarchy of House Sarkozy. Victor married a Chivay Mistress after a deal with Lord Brendt Chivay despite his advanced age, siring multiple children and carrying on the dynasty of Sarkoz. Victor helped secure his son the title as Duke of Adria from their Vladovic kinsmen, who had dominated Adrian politics with their military prowess for more than a decade. Victor var Otto continued as his son’s advisor till his assassination at the hands of an unknown assailant, with his kin marking and swearing vegence.

Victor sired three sons, Hugo, Francis, and Eric, and two daughters.

His Grandmother, HELENA CHIVAY [Devvy] - Only a young maid when she married the elder Victor var Otto, Helena lived a quiet and uneventful life. She was unable to control her eldest Hugo, had a strained relationship with the rest of her children, and left the actual parenting of many of her children to the Carrion coz Lorina Tuvna.

His Great-Uncle, PAUL VAR OTTO DE MONTFORT [AiiM] (1443-1499) - The Baron of Eastcliffe, Paul var Otto was the third son of King Otto I and the Lady Jrent. A successful business entrepreneur, Paul took control of the fertile Amaurian valley and secured an alliance between himself and his distant Vladovic cozs with himself and Emily Rurikovna. Paul is most known for, however, his organization of the first Canonist League, in conflict against the Schismatic forces. After the Schism War Paul found peace within small Eastcliffe, passing peacefully as his titles passed to the child Tobia.

Paul sired two sons, Tobia and Edmond, before his wife died in labor.

His Great-Aunt, EMILY RURIKOVNA VLADOVIC [ballzy] (1467-1491) - Blessed of the Canon, Emily Rurikovna is reputed as one of Oren’s finest and most successful generals in history. A lady who preferred the sword instead of needle, Emily first entered the warfront during the budding Renatus Rebellion with her Vladovic kin members as raiders against the Waldesian rebels, reputed as a fierce and deadly warrior. She rose through command speedily as she led successful skirmish after successful skirmish, her peak reaching the devastating victory during the Battle of Karovia and the Battle of Milvian Bridge. Emily also commanded the Siege of Drakenburgh, where she led a sally and destroyed the Dwarven encampment, and the naval encounter off the coast of Almanar, with the Dwarven Armada sinking before the waves.

Emily was married to Paul as per politics, dying in birth with Paul’s second son Edmond.

His First Cousin Once Removed, TOBIA VAR PAUL DE MONTFORT [AiiM] (1490-) - The Baron of Eascliffe, Tobia, raised under the tutelage of his wayward cousin August Hightower, inherited the Barony of Eastcliffe at a young age. Groomed and trained for lordship, it was not till his sixteenth that he decided to retreat into monastic life as a brother of the faith. Tobia currently serves oversea in Aeldin, acting as a wandering abbot.

His First Cousin Once Removed, EDMOND VAR PAUL DE MONTFORT, HIGH PONTIFF EVERARD II [Ser_Jacko] (1491-1538) - High Pontiff of the Canon, Prince-Bishop of Cyriaum, Dibley and Huss, Prince of Alban-Balain. At a young age, Edmond was sent as ward underneath his wayward coz Viktor, where the young Edmond spent the majority of his childhood. Growing in pair with Hugo, Edmond prefered books and prayer to his cousin’s lusterous nature, spending time as an altar boy and leader in his local church. After reaching the ripe age of twelve, he was sent a squire, passing through multiple Savoyard knights before returning home at the age of twenty-three, now a Knight of Oren.

Edmond joined the priesthood, becoming Bishop of Hugo’s realm and his court chaplain. It was during the Sack of Brelus where Edmond was burned alive, living yet suffering dangerous burns to the majority of his body. He later joined the Adrian exiles to the Outremer, becoming a Crusader under Baldwin de Bar and Leon of Amaury, founding the way for the lands of Luciensport. Because of his ties to the successful crusader force, he was voted as High Pontiff of the Faith, taking the name Everard II. Everard II is credited to having made the most Golden Bulls out of his predecessors, cementing a bishopric system and continuing the conversion of Orenian vassal elves.

Everard II was taken by an Aeldinic assassin’s blade, siring no known children in his life.

His Great-Uncle, GODFERIK OSTROVIC CARRION [pmf] (1431-1505) - A known homosexual, Godferik was banished for his deviant tendencies. He took a life of piety as to atone for his unnatural liety, never formally swearing to the clergy but wandering the world, doling advice to various lords and kings before passing peacefully.

His Great-Uncle, OSTROMIR  OSTROVIC CARRION [VonAulus] (1431-1514) - The King of Renatus and Salvus, Grand Duke of Kaedrin, Duke of Kingston, Count of Kerrack and Loyola. The twin to Godferik, Ostromir was raised and given the privileges a Prince and grandson of the Emperor Sigismund I would; he received education of numerous tutors and taught in the ways of the Old Raev and the Imperial Heartlander lifestyles.

His Great-Uncle, JOREN BARROW [Raptor14] (1432-1456) - Commonly called the Blackhand, Joren served under his uncle King Francis from the start of his journey in the Autumn Sea to his demise in Vekaro. Joren was a master swordsman and celibate, trained in the Gaekrini style of fighting and learned in the arts of combating magic and monsters. For his continued service, Joren was knighted and became his uncle’s chief bodyguard and loyal knight. Joren met his end at the Franciscan Massacre, killed in combat by Voron Rovin.

Growing up as an only daughter and cooped in the vast fortress of the Krelmstadt, Milena took to reading the ancient tales of Stranniks and the Raev, enchanted by its mysticism. At the age of 16, Milena fled from the confines of Kralta, joining a Raevir caravan into the depths of Hanseti and not seen for sometime. It is rumored that Milena's departure is what caused her mother, the Lady Sarkozy, to fall ill and pass into the Skies.

Milena returned after Heinrik himself hunted her down, with her cousin creating a betrothal between her and the Lord Stafyr. She gave the Lord Stafyr two children and died in Werdenburg, a lonesome woman missing the adventures of her youth.

His Great Grand-Aunt, MARY THERVING [19ConCon19] - Once Queen-Consort of Salvus, Mary Therving married the bastard Carrion in lieu of Salvus’ annexation to Sigismund’s Realm. The proposal saw Mary raised to Imperial Princess, to mother of the Prince of Raev and Emperor, to finally being Empress-Consort herself when Tuvya took the crown himself.

His First Cousin Twice Removed, STEPHEN TUVIC CARRION [ComanderHazard] (1444-1495) - Eldest son of Tuvya and perhaps the most ambitious, Stephen is mainly known for his brutal nature in the Crowsmoot of 1458, which Stephen and his younger brother Fyodor entered a bitter rivalry. Stephen won the Crowsmoot, but merely did so to spite his younger brother and left the Realm of Oren, which he campaigned in Aeldin as a sellsword and commander. A staunch supporter of his brother Fyodor, once Stephen won the vote through trickery, Alexei Tuvic set sail along with Isodor Ruthern, fleeing eastward to the lands of Aeldin. Alexei and Isodor took roles as pirates and eventual privateers under the Aeldinic Emperor Audemar III, son of Horos the Usurper, where his fame grew after a successful string of naval victorirs against the vicious Drakmarr of Novgorod and privateers from the desolate Fjordem. However, at the start of the infamous Renatus Rebellion, his father grew ill and incapable; and under the urging of his father’s loyal vassals, Aleksandr was crowned Emperor in order to maintain stability. This move was highly critized, however, as Tobias I’s once loyal commander Varon of Kovacs took control of Aleksandr’s former duchy and declared himself king, as well as Aleksandr’s estranged cousin Roy taking up a false crown. All crumbled after the Battle of Angren, with Aleksandr overthrown from his own city by the plotting of Godfrey III Horen and the Mardonic League. He died in exile.

Aleksandr bore two sons with his Rovin wife, Karl and Lorin, who both bore the Barbanov name.

Arabella, through it all, was a staunch supporter of her family; when the Schism War broke out she abducted the Crown Prince and Princess from their craddels to deliver to her father and kin in Vanderfell.

Arabella died enroute, however, due to a hunting accident. She bore Alexander two children, a daughter Lorin and a son Karl.
