A scroll is set at the door of the Pontiff, containing a small letter which seems very old but oddly in good shape. It has the seal of Cyriaum upon it which encloses its contents. It sits upon a small box that would be filled with all the theses of Jude. You don’t know how it got there or who left it. It appears to be a note Jude wrote before he died containing his final thesis. You would begin to read….

“As one grows old, they begin to notice the more simple and small things in life. Every day I grow closer to death and think about my past very much. I remember when I first joined the Church, a nervous young boy wanting to dedicate himself to something greater than himself. I was taken under the wing of Bishop Kristoff, a close friend and mentor and soon realized that my path of priesthood was not what my soul desired, I desired a life of servitude different from that of the common priest. I was then taken under the wing of Pontiff Daniel I, a dear friend who trained me in monastic values and was an inspiration to me. I joined the monastery, becoming one of the few monks in the Church’s history at the time. I spent every day writing, praying, fasting, and serving. I fell in love with writing and philosophical thought. It was a way in which I could reach the ends of the realm and touch as many people as possible. It seemed as if everyone at the time read my published theses so I decided to begin the weekly theses of Jude or Deacon Jude as I was known at the time. As my training and instruction concluded, I was named Abbot Jude of Cyriaum and wore the robes of the Abbot. I remember I counseled many and even spoke to Lorina Carrion upon her devotion to the faith, in which I urged her to take up the life of a nun. I heard the confessions of a king, dined with kings and nobles, lived through the time of schism, journeyed to Asterwald and other cities many a time to hear confessions and preach to those who listened, suffered beatings in my own Abbey weekly due to my devotion to the faith, those who did not like my writings spat on me in the streets, but looking back upon all I have done, I begin to feel confident in how I lived my life. Only publishing 15 of my 34 theses, living in poverty, forgiving sins, converting heathens and heretics, all of this made me into the man I am today. Writing this at the age of 84 years of age, a man slowly dying should leave his mark on the world not in a negative way but a positive one and be content on the way in which he lived his life.  I will end my writings with the way I began them, with a thesis.

A Thesis on Reflection

In order for one to learn about themselves and his or her mistakes, one must look inward and reflect. We all know the feeling of guilt, for none are perfect in this realm but the Creator. In order for us to better ourselves we must reflect on who and what we are. Are we kind to all those that converse with us? Do we often find ourselves full of hate and unholy desires? Do we become jealous and unpoised at times? The list goes on and on, however, we can correct these ill behaviors by looking at our mistakes and tendencies and correct them to lead a more happy and poised life. I often find myself thinking on how it is I can better myself but not only that but my faith in the creator. Through reflection we are able to weed out our bad habits and learn to not act upon them and cast their sinfulness aside so that we truly live how the creator wants us to. We have been and are made to serve him and through sin, we do not accomplish anything but sever the connection between us and him.  I will not make this long for my bones grow old and my muscles tire but I will conclude on the notion of reflection. Should you take a step back and look upon how you have lived your life maybe you will be able to find at least one thing that you can begin to work on in order to better yourself and the people around you. I do a reflection of my day every night and I try to pinpoint on where I am able to better myself to grow closer to the creator not only for my sake but for the sake of those around me. I now conclude this thesis with one request. Look inward at yourself sometime today and think upon your life and things that you might be able to cast aside such as greed, lust, jealousy, or any other sin in that case. Try to work upon eradicating these from yourself and work towards living the way the creator wants us to. To all those who have followed my theses throughout the years, thank you for your loyalty and support. Thank you for your prayers and love for I hope I have been able to inspire and touch each and every one of your lives in one way or another because I know you have touched mine. To all my close friends and family, thank you for being with me through all these years. For those who used to beat me upon the altar, I still pray for you every night before I retire for bed. I conclude my theses and wish you all farewell.

God Bless,

Abbot Jude
