Harsh winds pushed Lorus’ scrawny frame to the left and right, as he repeatedly dug his staff into the cold snow reaching his knees, yet he relentlessly clambered the prominent, snow-covered mountaintops of Kaedrin. He’d let out a frigid exhale, pursing his freezing lips as he tucked the cowl further over his head, hiding the obsidian locks beneath. Continuous climbing and scaling the shingly peaks with relative ease.

 

 

As he reached the top, he’d bring a rag up to his lips, coughing once or twice into it before slipping it back into his pocket. His gloved hands were clasped together, as he rubbed them for warmth. A blustery wind accompanied the grating shower of snow that developed a thin hue of the frozen liquid atop of his shoulders and hood, his breath shaky as he blew out multiple clouds of icy fog. He abruptly entered a large grotto before him.

Meditation was a meter away; and Lorus’ gaze panned into the dusky cave. He’d enter, brushing his hands against its’ damp, rocky walls, a satisfied grin donned on his lips. He brought out his supplies, assembling a few meager rocks into a pile, settling twigs and branches in the middle; lastly retrieving a purse of matches, igniting it soon enough and plopping it onto the bundle of wood. He’d seat his frame cross-legged beside the fiery embers, hovering his hands above them, pondering in thought.

 

A day passes.

 

Lorus exits the cave with an audible grunt, rubbing his covered knuckles at his weary seeming orbs. He’d lean over, picking up a rock and allowing it to gracefully be tossed about between palms before carelessly inspecting the stone.

He guided it into his satchel, ambling back into the cavern, visage’s features taut and determined. He would not falter.
