You can downgrade very easily. Open up the Minecraft Launcher https://gyazo.com/c839b9d5cb3520a0775ad850eed840ff

 

Click 'edit profile' in the bottom left

Go about 2/3rds of the way down the page. You' see the 'Use Version:' line. Click on the box, scroll down to 1.8.8, click that. Then hit save profile.

 

Then hit play on the launcher. You'll be gucci.

Might be a while because the custom plugins will need to be edited to fit 1.9, however message @Telanir is you have any questions, I think he'd be the best one to ask about this.
