Since Lucas hasn't replied, I'll pick randomly between you two.

0-4, we show it to him, 5-9, we don't.

9. Uh oh...

189

'Impostor!' he cries, and draws his weapon. Before you can react to his attack, his sword has grazed your arm and you lose 2 ENDURANCE points. He runs at you and knocks you backwards through the open doorway. In a tangle of limbs and curses, you both fall headlong down the watchtower stairs. You stagger to your feet, but the knight is already up and searching for his broadsword.

If you wish to fight him, turn to 162.

If you would rather abandon your horse and run for the safety of the trees, turn to 244.

We lose 2E (20/22)

Erm...Ok, what should we do now?

Sorry for not posting, my computer keyboard broke and I've not been able to use it. The motherboard's now broken, so it'll be a while before I can get back to normal. I'm writing this from a borrowed laptop, and should be able to update fairly regularly, though.

So, 0-4 fight, 5-9 run.

3. So now we've not only (presumably) lied to a perfectly legal guard of the town we're trying to enter, refused to show him the seal, but now we're going to add assault to those charges. Well, here goes.

162

He bellows his battle-cry and lunges at your head.

Knight of the White Mountain: COMBAT SKILL 20 ENDURANCE 27

You may evade combat at any time by running into the trees and turning to 244.

If you win the combat, turn to 302.

Our CS is 18, and our E is 21. The combat results table is skewed in our favour a bit, but do we want to risk it?

Remember that if we evade, we still fight a single round of combat after deciding to, in which only we take damage. Of course, the fact that he takes no damage makes no difference really, as we'd (presumably) be running away never to meet him again...

Right then, here goes.

CR = 18-20 = -2

Our E total = 21/22

Knight of the White Mountain's E total = 27/27

Round 1

Random number = 9

We take 0 damage = 21/22

Knight of the White Mountain takes 10 damage = 17/27

Round 2

Random number = 3

We take 4 damage = 17/22

Knight of the White Mountain takes 4 damage = 13/27

(Notice how even on a bad roll of 3, and a negative combat ratio, the damage we took was equal. That's what I mean about the table being skewed. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, especially considering how hard some of the fights are with a low CS)

Round 3

Random number = 0

We take 0 damage = 17/22

Knight of the White Mountain takes 11 damage = 2/27

Round 4

Random number = 3

We take 0 damage = 13/22

Knight of the White Mountain takes 10 damage = DEAD!!!

Our E total = 13/22

Ok, we've now added murder to our list of charges. You guys do know we're meant to be the good guys, right?

Moving on...

302

Stepping over the body, you climb the watchtower stairs and quickly search the living quarters. You find:

Mace

Broadsword

Quarterstaff

Healing Potion (restores 3 ENDURANCE points)

Enough Food for 3 Meals

Backpack

12 Gold Crowns

Take whatever Items you wish and quickly leave the watchtower in case someone discovers you.

You realize that the forest is very thick in this area and you will have to abandon your horse and continue on foot.

Right, so what do we take? Remember we have skill in quarterstaff, so taking that would probably be a good idea, but we'd have to drop the darklord sword if we wanted to take one of the other weapons. There's also no point in taking the backpack, it's to replace one which we might have lost earlier in the adventure if we'd made different choices.

Come to think of it, that guard was really quite right to be suspicious. I think we can add 'carrying and using a blade used only by servants of the darklords' to our list of charges too...

244

You push on through the dense forest for nearly three hours before you discover a track heading north, running parallel to the Rymerift, whose rushing waters are over one mile deep. In the distance, you spot a bridge that spans the dark water at a narrow point. A small hut with a flat roof has been erected in the centre, on top of which stand two soldiers. A sign points across the bridge.

PORT BAX

If you have the Kai Discipline of Tracking, turn to 147.

If you wish to cross the bridge, turn to 47.

If you wish to avoid the bridge and continue along the path, turn to 207.

We don't have tracking, so which way do we go?

Incidentally, we can eat the meal of larnuma at any time we're not in combat to increase our E by 3. Just add it to your normal vote.

What do you vote we take from the tower, Cows? I'll take the gold, food, and potion as given unless someone objects for some reason, but we can only have 2 weapons at a time.

Take everything and the quarter staff... but it hought we could carry two weapons>?

Yeah, we got a Darklord Sword on us as well :P

I vote the Quarterstaff, and eat the meal to gain HP since we can just hunt for our meals other times can't we?

Hmm... the two soldiers seem kind of ominous, but Port Bax is the place we have been trying to get to for a while right? I saw we trust the bridge.
