[SHOW] Female Orc Child Skin

Hi guys!

I thought that I'd try making an orc skin. Since this is me, and I might end up using her eventually, I decided to make a girl. As in, a GIRL girl. A child. I used Nova Skin to make her, since it has cool tools that help the shading look good. And make it easier.

The first thing I wanted to do was make a skin base. Since this was Nova Skin, it pretty much amounted to dragging around the rectangle function until I was happy. I did a similar thing with the hair, and then added eyes and a mouth with my usual method, though this time I added small tusks at the side. They're only one pixel tall because she's young.

With the base skin out of the way, I started working on a dress in another layer. I didn't put any shading on it yet, though, and mainly focused on getting the right shape.

Here's what the dress and base skin look like together at this stage:

Pretty simple, and definitely not finished. So then, I added layers on the base skin's hair.

Followed by shading the dress. Again, the rectangle function was useful.

And here's what it looks like all together:

Much better. But still a little drab. The next step is going to be adding some sort of decoration to the dress, most likely. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to add yet. (I'm also not sure whether to add shoes or not.)

If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know in the comments or through PMs. Thanks!

Edit 1: As per @The Chaotic Cookiie 饼's suggestion, I have added armbands. I'm still not sure what to do with more layers ATM, though.

Edit 2: Based on @Bunny :)'s advice, I have separated the top and bottom parts of the dress, and removed part of the hair.

The skin looks great so far, though perhaps you should add some outer layers to the body also! It adds great depth, and you're able to get some cool accessories on her; armbands  are always super cute, and easy to do! Apart from that, the shading is simple though effective, unless you wanted something harsher, in which case I'm sure you could find a tutorial on PMC, or of the like.

Great job so far!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be sure to try that out. And I'm glad you like the skin too! I haven't done a huge amount in the past with non-head layers, but I'll try my best!

Give it a hat layer jaw, bonetooth jewelry, separated bottom and top to give it less of a pocahontas look, her hair should be more wild, and rebellious, like a mohawk or half her head shaved or something, her eyes should only be 2 pixels instead of four to give her a more rugged and tough look.

Those are just my suggestions

Edit: You might want to add some cool scars or war paint to add extra color, because your skin is rather simple looking as it is.

I'm not sure about the 2 pixel eyes and the jaw thing. She's only like five years old. The separated top-bottom thing was something I was kind of torn about at first, since I wasn't sure if that would be okay for a little girl. I'll probably try that and the hair thing, at least.

Good luck with your Orc! Once you go Lak, you never go Back!

Maybe making her skin less bright might help? If it were more diluted, it'd help the skin overall I think.
