HOUSE OF VOLVAKOV

LINE OF YAKOVIC-VOLVAKOVIC, BARONS OF VSENK

“Wild in Blood. Wild in Fury.”

HOUSE STANDING -  The Line of Yakov draws its roots to the Tuvic line of House Karovic. From this line descends the line of Yakov and the line of Barbov. That of Barbanov are those who have drawn their lineage to Holy Orenian Emperor, Aleksander the Unlucky and his son, Karl the Gilded Crow. That of Volvakovic descends from Yakov the Accursed, and his baseborn son, Ivan the Outlaw. These two figures were established in legend and history as dangerous, wild, but brave and skilled in war.

The Volvakovics have kinsmen throughout the Empire of Oren, cousins with the line Barbanov who seat themselves in the Duchy of Carnatia, in dominion  over the distant kinsmen of Volvakovic, called the lines of Kovac and Ruthern. The Line of Volvakov is closely tied with the Barbovs, having descended from their forefather’s twin brother. They are distantly related to the Vladovics, who aided them in their resettlement in the Krajian Steppe during the early reign of John II. As well as through marriage and Old Blood, share kinsmanship with the House Sarkozic whose last scion is a travelling friar in the Church of the Canon.

HOUSE CULTURE  - Unique in their values and tradition, the House Volvakov centers itself around the Old Raev. The noblemen themselves value religion and highly emphasize tradition, focusing on keeping blood of pure raev and of ancient raev culture. They place more importance on the ideals of fraternity and strelesy. The culture could be defined as Renaissance Raev, which following the Diaspora adopted Burgundian Cossack and Kraltan Cultures.

COAT OF ARMS  - The Coat of Arms of the House Volvakovic takes influence from the banner of the Krajian Hetmanate, placing the Gilded Hetman's Mace atop a cyan field. The colors of the House Karovic detail the lower left portion of the Arms, above it a crowned Black Crow on a blood red field.

HOUSE LEGEND, DESCENDING FROM THE HOLY ORENIAN EMPEROR TOBIAS I

FYODOR SVENELDOVICH VOLVAKOVIC, BARON OF VSENK (ryanheff74)  - Baron of Godansk, and later Baron of Vsensk, Master of the Ostrog, Keeper of the Hussariya, Warden of August. Imperial Ward of John Owyn III, Holy Orenian Emperor. Fyodor was snuck from his home in Krajia, the Sietch of Godansk, and to the Imperial Capital of Felsen. In the court of Anpalais, he alone arrived, as his escort of cossacks loyal to the Archbishop Svatobor had been slain. He inherited the lands-in-rebellion from his Father and negotiated, some say forced, into the Treaty of the Gilded Mace. In the land of Axios, the Baron Fyodor took charge of the township of Vsenk and collected what remained of his father’s peoples, displaced strelts of the field.

HIS FATHER, SVENELD VSEVOLODOVICH VOLVAKOVIC, HETMAN OF KRAJIA (Charlemagne) - Self-Proclaimed Prince of Raev, Self-Proclaimed King of Ruska, Warden of Krajia and the Nijh, Master of the Four Ostrogs, Keeper of the Hussariya. Sveneld was a foolhardy, wild, and ferocious warrior much like his predecessor. He was focused on war, making war on the enemies of his family and his people, but when provoked by what in his eyes were treacherous actions of his neighbors, his kinsmen, his allies of Barbanov and Kovachev, he launched into war on his former allies. The Hetman was crowned King for a short time, by the Archbishop Svatobor, and used the Eye of Siegmund as his relic, opposing the Boyar’s Cap as a symbol of dominance wielded by the Barbanovics. He met his end not-so-dramatically, yielding his life to the tortures of age and disease in the front lines of rebellion. His land was inherited and resolidified under the Empire, as per the Treaty of the Gilded Mace. Sveneld fathered a near record amount of bastards.

HIS MOTHER, BOGDANA VAS ROY SARKOZIC ☨ (ThirdCrusader) - Daughter of Roy Sarkozic, one of the last scions of the Sarkoz line. In a contract with Francis Sarkozic, the girl was betrothed and wedded to the Hetman Sveneld following his disenfranchisement with his infertile Kovachev bride. She gave birth to one child, a boy called Fyodor. Slain in a riot against the regency of Svatobor Volvakov, over the town of Godansk.

HIS HALF-SISTER, HALYNA SVENELDOVICH VANIR (Apeena_) - The bastard daughter of Sveneld Volvakovic. Married to Ser Fiske ‘the Bloody’ and later called the Baroness Vanir.

HIS GRANDFATHER, VSEVOLOD  IVANOVICH VOLVAKOVIC ‘THE VAIN’, HETMAN OF KRAJIA  ☨ (- Warden of Krajia and the Nijh, Master of the Four Ostrogs, Keeper of the Hussariya. The first Hetman, Vsevolod took control of the Solichinian Band following his father’s death. One of the two children of a marriage between a freed raev slave and Ivan the Outlaw, Vsevolod was defined by a wild and unpredictable persona. He would attend court upon horseback and with several Cossack riders to defend him. He was viewed as a barbarian by Southeron ladies and a danger by Southeron nobles. Though wild, he was fiercely defensive of his brother who had taken to a more reserved and diplomatic attitude. When he had overheard a comment on the ‘untrustworthiness’ of his brother by the Imperial Prince Alexander’s Ashford Wife, the Hetman hurled his gilded mace at the girl’s head and inflicted mental damage, nearly killing her. For this crime, Vsevelod handed himself over to the Imperial Estate and was beheaded.

HIS GREAT GRANDFATHER, IVANISLAU YAKOVICH VOLVAKOVIC ‘THE OUTLAW’, CAPTAIN OF THE SOLICHINIAN BAND ☨ (Trolol504)- Called Ivan Barrow and the Lost Crow. Ivan the Outlaw, was born bastard of the Crow called Yakov. The boy was raised by the later Holy Orenian Emperor Aleksander Carrion, and did not learn of his true parentage until he was nearly a man grown. Ivan earned the moniker of Outlaw following his run as a bandit following the fall of the Carrion Vochna. He was notorious for his skill in the blade and cunning of the mind and frequently found conflict from the Ashford de Bars of Leeuvarden and even in his kinsmen of Montfort and Vladov. Following his tenure as a highwayman, Ivan was lost at sea after the death of Andrik Vydra. He returned from this voyage, having earned reputation as a trader and skilled pirate. Upon his return to the Realm of Man, he came under the employ of a Vladovic Mercantile venture, which aided him in settling a group of adventurers and colonists in the wild steppe of Krajia. He succumbed to old age soon after the Sietch’s first pillars were erected.

HIS GREAT UNCLE, SVATOBOR IVANOVICH VOLVAKOVIC, ARCHBISHOP OF AYR ☨ (ryanheff74) - Prince-Bishop of Bogdansk, Pentarch of the Synod, Vice-Chancellor of the Holy Synod, Proclaimer of False Prophets. Svatobor was born before his younger brother Vsevolod. The boy took a far more reserved view on life, instead diverting his attention to clerical life after a brief time serving as an adventurer in his father’s band. He took the robes after visiting to Felsen and meeting with the High Pontiff seeking to preach to the steppe folk. Under Daniel III he became a Cardinal and Archbishop, however sook to remove him from power under the pretense that Daniel was both incompetent and corrupt. Along with the Archbishop Boiendl, he successfully had Daniel assassinated. While the two worked, alongside the Metropolitan Stephen, to consolidate the Synod’s control, they were happened upon by a resurrected (by means of Cloud Temple) Daniel who proclaimed himself a Prophet. After a brief series of mishappenings, the Archbishop was excommunicated and then welcomed back into the Church by the new Pontiff Theodosius I. However, when Sveneld rebelled, the Archbishop was removed from the Synod due to his involvement in the coronation. He was overwhelmed by Cossacks following his sending off of Fyodor to the Imperial Court, and was killed in a riot against his regency of Godansk.

HIS GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER, YAKOV TUVIC VOLVAKOV CARRION ‘THE ACCURSED’, PRINCE OF THE HOLY ORENIAN EMPIRE (Zezimus)- Knight of Oren, knighted by Ser Maric Varodyr, the Stormking. Prince Yakov was born to Emperor Tobias, called Tuvya, Carrion as a twin to the later Emperor and forefather to the Barbanovic line, Aleksander Carrion. Yakov fiercely battled under his father against the enemies of Oren and the House Carrion. The skilled and loyal knight, during prayer, began receiving messages and visions of which he assumed were Holy. He received a telling that his father’s Empire would be destroyed and in return Yakov began to pray harder, more often. He believed he was communing with some greater force, which was soon offering him the power to protect his family. To destroy its enemies, Aesterwald and any of the future. In an effort to save his family and his father from a doomed fate, he was tricked and deceived by the forces of Iblees. By the time Yakov had realized his error, he was far too in commune with the Undead and was brought into their realm. His fate is unknown, disappeared along with those foes of Man. His deception brought harm upon his family, much like how Iblees tricked the Four Sons, he tricked Yakov Carrion and used his desire to protect his family to try and destroy it. It is rumored that this curse by Iblees affected his offspring, and in this the reason for madness or excessive wroth and wildness among his line can be found.

HIS GREATEST GRANDFATHER, TUVYA SIGISMUNDOVIC CARRION, HOLY ORENIAN EMPEROR TOBIAS I ☨ (Chumpchump) - The Holy Orenian Emperor, King of Renatus, Ruska, Hanseti and Alras, Grand Duke of Kaedrin, Duke of Aaunburg, Count of Petrus, commonly called Rosebud, Brother Blue or Tuvya the Golden. Shared Dynast of the lines Barbov and Volvakov.
