To Fill a Vacancy: Okarir'maehr

The mali'aheral glanced about the inn and nearby area, a small smile creeping upon his features in anticipation. It was but a few mere hours after the announcement of their new Maheral, and the city square was bustling with traffic, a pleasant sight for their Silver City. The elf inclined his head once more, peering over what he'd written, a messy green barely legible akin to that found upon every **** piled upon the table. Without a word, he promptly rose from his seat, forming a small pile and tucking them all beneath his arm, striding to the spot from which Erinali had made his previous announcement.

"Dearest mali'aheral, and any others gathered before me in Haelun'or, I seek to address you today with hopes of fixing a problem that as a nation we face. For with the appointment of our new Maheral, the Silver Council once more holds a vacancy: that of the Okarir'maehr.

I have none that I can decry for creating a sorry state of affairs, a champion of immense change, for we do not find ourselves needing such radical improvement. Our new Maheral, the former Okarir'maehr, proved sedulous in her duties, taking a library unopened and bookless and revitalizing a home for knowledge worthy of the implications the name The Eternal Library bestows.

Yet it is also imperative that we continue our pursuit of maehr'sae in our most treasured locale, more important than ever, for I fear it clear that we do not hold the progress found through scholarship as dear to our hearts as we once did. It is for this reason that I, Icarus Adil, put my name forward as candidate for the next Okarir'maehr, spoken publicly so any other with interest might make their mind known, if they so wish. I will debate any other seeking the role as is our custom, if such a task proves necessary.

Until another with interest arises, I merely bow my head to you, my fellow mali'thilln, in hope that I might serve you more fully. Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya."

And so he did, bowing his head to the crowd. Whether it was more apt to describe it as dramatic or humbling could be debated. No matter, after the appropriate amount of time, the elf raised his head, scanning the crowd for any who might challenge him.

Standing adjacent to the bubbling fountain within the plaza of the Silver City, Itiireae flicks her pale gaze over the 'thill and indeed listens to said proclamations. Offering no comment nor support, a muted smile pulls at her lips before she looks back to the aqua waters.

An elf sitting near the awning of the tavern turns to look at the speaker, listening to his words carefully. Amidst her makeshift desk lays scattered maps, tomes, and an innumerable stack of scrolls all strewn across. She raises her voice to speak, as is the nature of all tavern-goers.

"Perhaps you can impress upon us work that is worthy for anyone to consider you fit as Iaria's replacement, instead of babbling about it to invoke some form of sympathy from us."

"Yet you still decry Iaria for her supposed inactivity. So instead of trying to denounce one another, perhaps you can impress upon us work that is worthy for anyone to consider you fit for the position, instead of babbling about it to invoke some form of sympathy from us."

Icarus appears confused, as he had only spoken compliments of Iaria in his speech. "I have never called Iaria inactive. We have had our disagreements, yet that does not mean I criticize her work. I have done the opposite, and claim only to continue from where she has left off, for there is a great deal left to do."

A Notice is pinned by the Government of Haelun'or

"As there has been no one to challenge Icarus Adil for the position of Okarir'maehr, he is confirmed by the Uthir and Elhieal’thilln as the new Okarir'maehr of Haelun'or. May he serve the State and its people dutifully."
