Inkthorn 1434 Share Posted January 7, 2017 Hark, humanity! Hoc est bellum, Curoniæ. This is war. Rare is the day that man must call forth the levy to dispel and repel man: for since the days of Godfrey, the realms of humanity have almost always been unified. There are of course rare exceptions, wherein the treachery of treasonous individuals proved cause for internal warfare. However, such civil wars are few and far between. Alas, the Empire appears to be upon the precipice of yet another. The culprits are none other than the infamous and treacherous Curoniae — the people of Courland — whose numerous previous infractions include not only open rebellion and attempted regicide, but blatant cowardice; for rather than die a man’s death at Kraken’s Watch, they instead thought it a good idea to attempt to flee. Therefore they are not only traitors but cowards… a despicable combination. I digress. This essay is not to enumerate the idiocy of Courlandic leadership; rather it is to propose a simple, resolute course of action for the Empire to take in response to the newest round of high treason at the hands of the Curoniæ. It is obvious that they must face retribution, that punishment must be doled out. I remind you therein, then, that justice is best served cold. For too long brigands under the banner of House Staunton have been a thorn in humanity’s side. They have lived as parasites: not only have they resorted to bona fide banditry but they have stooped to the level of murderers, taking from women and children. They have been punished time and time again, yet the trend continues. This is unacceptable. Wars are not won with flavorful rhetoric in court sessions but rather with fire and steel. As a result of such, wartime discourse should be concise and aggressive. Acta, non verba: deeds, not words. Therefore I will henceforth speak not of creed but of strategy. And indeed, our strategy need not be complicated. We must be swift. We must be cold. We must be merciless. Let us march as one unto battle against these despicable rebels. Raise the banners of man against this heresy. Set the streets of Courland alight with the resplendent fire of war. There is but one solution: the fields must be salted, the villages must burn, and its people must be put to the sword. Spare not the sons of Staunton, for once mercy has been given by the grace of God, and they again spit in the face of such benevolence. Let us not make that mistake twice. Ceterum censeo Curoniem esse delendam — furthermore, I am of the opinion that Courland must be completely destroyed. Vege 4804 Share Posted January 7, 2017 "It is important to remind the realm of man, that it was we, the Courlandic people who sought peace during the two Imperial diets of Saltstone, rather than resort to war, and it was the Empire who brought the war to the lands of Staunton. The Stauntons did not seek to fight, but would do so if prompted. For the slaughter of thousands of innocents, it is the duty of every Courlander and non Courlander to stand up against this tyrannical and evil Empire, to enforce a justice that only we, the people can deliver. House Horen and all Imperials will be purged in this, the cleansing of the Empire. We were kind and merciful the first time round, and this was thrown back in our faces. This time we will be hard and unyielding to the cause, to topple this, the so called Ivory Tower of Empire. Through their deceptive propaganda, they paint us, the people of Courland to be the evil aggressors, who seek to pillage and destroy the beautiful and perfect Empire of Oren, yet, if one were to examine the evidence, ye would find that this is far from the truth. House Staunton brought this, the fifth Empire into this world, with Percival Staunton's support for John I, now it is only fitting that they should be the ones to take it out." Proclaims Aleksander, King of Courland.

You were the first to show hostility when you betrayed House Vanir all those years ago. Traitors from the start deserve to be put to the sword!" a cloaked man wearing red, gold and black would mutter as he passed.
