I would tell him that his character needs to know his people better. I mean what, we want MORE complicated red tape to do RP because something unfortunate might happen sometimes?

Regardless of what he thinks his peoples needs are, it still is a problem. 1 player wants to take leadership a day after the main leader bought the plot and moved everything to it. He gets help to coup the city via outside forces and placed into leadership regardless of what anyone else wants oher than the outside force. 

You still tell that guy to go pound sand? Because that is unbelievably unfair to the person who'd put the time and effort into building something up like that.

"Outside forces" you mean they war claim. And yea if it's all inside people than I'm sorry that the RP didn't go your way. Maybe you could advocate making it easier for people to get plots.

 

Also, RP isn't an RPG. Being fair isn't a requirement.

By definition of a coup, you should not have to warclaim the land. If that 1 player lives within the land and decides he wants leadership and gets the backing from an opposing faction, whats to say they cant perform a coup? You dont need a warclaim to perform a coup. That'd be completely absurd. 

But just saying "tough luck" isnt fair. You'll drive players to leave the server rather than retain the players on an already slowly dying game. Im 100% certain you'd flip **** if it happened to you in that same way.

Tell me then, what even is fair then? What sort of RP can we take off the blacklist and let people do? I want to know before I accidently do something unfair.

Yes, because they have to send their entire military force to perform a coup... You do understand that a coup can be done without a military, correct? Theres nothing stopping citizens from the opposing faction from walking in and when they eventually get let in, to perform the coup.

That there is a problem in itself. There are different types of coups and to only allow a certain type because "rules stop them from doing this type..." doesnt work. It should either allow all types of coups and tell whom ever the region owner is "tough ****" or dont allow any coups, at least without a warclaim.

I advocate changing the nature of region ownership and tell everyone to stiff it. RP is already so illegitimate with all the skype chats and rules that railroad things.
