One Day They Shall Pay

“One day they shall pay.” - Duke Aleksander Staunton, as he and his entourage flee the burning city of Riga.

The victorious Courlandic forces at the battle of Westmark, circa. 1563.

Forty years had passed since the Riga War, when the North broke out in civil war, and the righteous Courlanders capitalized upon their right to freedom and seceded from the Empire. In all that time, the fire of Courland remained bright, vibrant, and alight. Though the ruins of Riga may fade, the name of Staunton shall never.

Carnatia, and it’s Hanseti successor state, had defeated the Courlandic people so decisively, it thought that no threat could ever arise from there again. Their genocides; their slaughters; their brutal and ruthless tricks; all failed in the face of true bravery and courage when the Courlandic peoples revolted, driving out their oppressors and establishing their mighty nation once more.

Haense thought they could escape the righteous vengeance of their long-forgotten rival. Courland has not forgotten. Courland will not forget, until the Hansetii perish in the thousands; until their homes burn like great pyres, as Riga did; and until the orchestrators of the massacres in the Curon Forest, in the Kraken’s Watch and in Courland paid for their extermination with their houses’s death.

One day they would pay, the Duke Aleksander once said.

That day had come.

Stop posting unless you are a direct affiliated party.

To those stating "It's the same as the other Warclaim!" It isn't. While it wasn't updated on the Warclaim thread, the Warclaim was intent to be moved to Asul instead of Tahn. That is why. The location was changed (While not updated on the post) and due to this is pushed back. It was discussed by the War Team to have the initial battle on neutral ground as to establish initiative.

I have issued verbal warnings to all who have posted without approval, any further posting will receive warning points.

Keyword: Intent. If the thread was never updated, and nobody outside of the war chat knew about this attempted change, it seems like this was something that was actively being debated omly within the war chat.

Using something hazy like that is a lazy a cop out, Tahmas. If the warclaim thread, the public documentation of the battle, not the private skype chat, said something about the location, it was what all but 2 warclaim attendees from each side assumed to be true.

So yes, this is the exact same warclaim that was posted by the Kingdom of Haense account. The location is the same, the terms of victory are the same, and the outcome will be the same.

If the time and place remain the same, my concerns are met. Being a staff bureaucrat I don't expect you to understand how much work goes into a warclaim and how time changes can rock preparations, but I can assure you, having the time moved back a week severely shafts a group if they're not told beforehand. Thank you for opening the possibility.

Very few times in the past has the thread served as actual reference for the battle until the very last day, and everything said in War Chat is official. There is no cop-out, this is simply how precedent has been in the past.

The last thread was denied for documentation sake, so we are able to establish "This did not occur on this date" and a new thread is posted. It does not matter who posted the thread, as the location and all else remains the same outside of the discussion in War Chat. If all parties, including Courland @Vege are comfortable with holding this tomorrow, we can indeed do so, as all other parties were under the direct impression that the location  had been changed, as was stated in War Leader chat and in War Team chat itself.

If this was  war chat issue, why didn't you post this warclaim and explain everything. From what it seems here, you bent over and took it from Vege and in exchange you gave the momentum to Vege. Please be more open to the playerbase. Because these warclaims are made up out of players, not GM's. The players should be informed.
