PEERAGE OF THE WESTERLANDS

Established in the 1603rd Year of Existence, under the reign of His Majesty Caius Sigismund I, King of the Westerlands

 

PRELUDE

In the name of his Majesty Caius Sigismund, the first of his name, King of the Westerlands, and Baron of Senntisten, the Executive Branch is hereby proclaimed and established as the chief advisory council to the Scorched Throne. The duties and authorities herein assigned to the members of the Executive Branch and the body as a whole are held as executory throughout the Kingdom, and it is so duly enacted that such powers are granted at the sole and unrestrained whim of the King of the Westerlands.

 


 

ARTICLE I: THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH

SECTION I: THE KING’S CABINET

  1. THE HIGH SOVEREIGN

  2. KING CAIUS SIGISMUND I OF HOUSE HOREN

    • The High Sovereign is the head of the privy council and acts as the Monarch of the Westerlands. Such a title can solely be acquired through hereditary means and the service to the role is life-long bar any filings of abdication.

    • The High sovereign is provided the final say in all policy pertaining to that of the Kingdom of the Westerlands and its capital of Bastion.

    • The word of the High Sovereign equates to that of law. The High Sovereign is granted the ability to establish and repeal laws at his discretion.

    • In times of war and peace, the High Sovereign acts as the Supreme Commander of Westerlandic Army and the subsequent bannermen forces within the Kingdom. The High Sovereign may choose to bestow the role of Lord Marshal at his own discretion in war time and may choose to withhold the role for himself.

 

  1. THE LORD CHANCELLOR

    • The Arch-Chancellor shall enforce the will of His Majesty as the nation’s Second-in-Command.

    • The Arch Chancellor of the Westerlands is trusted to keep relations with the nations of Axios as the King sees fit and to ensure the stability of the realm.

    • The Arch Chancellor may delegate roles to other members of the Privy Council at his own discretion.

    • Should his Majesty become indisposed, The Arch-Chancellor acts as the Lord Regent of the Kingdom until such a power is relinquished by the Monarch directly.

 

  1. THE LORD GENERAL

  2. SER JAMES HANSON

    • The Lord General shall serve as His Majesty’s highest military official bar the Lord Chancellor.

    • The Lord General will deal with all things logistics and grand strategy within His Majesty’s military.

    • The Lord General will manage troop movement, supply trains, garrison deployments, and fortifications of strategic points on the map.

    • The Lord General will serve as chief military advisor to the King.

 

  1. THE CROWN PRINCE

  2. PRINCE JOHN ELIAS OF HOUSE HOREN

    • The Crown Prince shall act as the heir to his Father’s Kingdom.

    • The Crown Prince shall be provided a seat upon the Privy Council at the age of Sixteen with the added purpose of obtaining political experience.

    • The Crown Prince shall act as an advisor to the council with the ability to aid in all policy implementation.

 

SECTION II: THE ROYAL ADMINISTRATION

  1. THE LORD CHAMBERLAIN

    • The Lord Chamberlain shall act as the chief administrator of his Majesty’s palace, Death’s End.

    • The Lord Chamberlain will be tasked with maintaining court etiquette and the line of succession.

    • The Lord Chamberlain shall take to seeking out courtiers and bureaucrats to ensure a successful administration and palace presence.

 

  1. THE LORD STEWARD

    • The Lord Steward shall act as the chief administrator of the his Majesty’s personal lands.

    • The Lord Steward shall be entrusted with the authority towards the development of town charters.

    • The Lord Steward shall be entrusted with the development and administering of the taxation code, and collection of said taxes.

    • The Lord Steward shall ensure that firm control remains within the lands of the de jure Kingdom.

 

SECTION III: THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

  1. THE PREFECT OF APOSTOLIC ENDEAVOURS

    • The Prefect of Apostolic Endeavours shall serve the Kingdom of the Westerlands as the chief arbiter of religious practice and relations.

    • The Prefect of Apostolic Endeavours is entrusted with all matters pertaining to the faith, acting as the bridge between government and god.

 

  1. THE PREFECT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

  2. GOTTFRIED HELVETS

    • The Prefect of Housing and Urban Development shall serve the Kingdom of the Westerlands as both a head architect and city planner.

    • The Prefect of Housing and Urban Development will advise His Majesty as how to best expand the city and local infrastructure.

 

In addition to the members of The Executive Branch, whom are granted titles and specific duties, Those who hold either Noble or Gentry status may sit on the council as untitled advisory members, who provide their general expertise for his Majesty without the assignment of additional duties or roles.

  • Her Highness, Helaine Francesca, Princess of Vandoria and the Westerlands.

ARTICLE III: THE DUTIES OF THE POPULACE

SECTION I: THE NOBLE HOUSES

  1. In return for the holdings and titles granted to them, the nobles of the Westerlands shall uphold their oaths of fealty to the King of the Westerlands and uphold their vows to uphold and protect the Vander Code.

  2. Nobles are responsible for the upkeep of their holdings. All settlements must have an outer wall to protect their people from the undead.

  3. In times of war, there are no bystanders. All nobles are expected to fight under the King’s banner should he call his people to arms.

  4. All nobles are expected to maintain a bannermen force. They may choose to merge into the main army and the patriarch of the noble house shall receive the rank of Decurion and manage their own soldiers or they may manage a private house guard.

  5. All Nobles are expected to follow His Majesty’s laws and to follow the one true GOD, the Creator.

 

SECTION II: THE ESTABLISHED GENTRY

  1. All knights of the realm must swear an oath to the King of the Westerlands and a vow to uphold and protect the Vander Code.

  2. All knights are expected to act as role models in the Kingdom of the Westerlands. They are bound to protect the King of the Westerlands and any lords they are sworn to protect.

  3. Knights are the servants of the Kingdom. They should be able to help those in need to the best of their abilities and to protect their fellow man.

  4. All Gentry are expected to follow His Majesty’s laws and to follow the one true GOD, the Creator.

 

SECTION III: THE COMMON MEN

  1. The Common Man is expected to remain loyal to his country and to pay his taxes on time.

  2. All common men are expected to follow His Majesty’s laws and to believe in GOD.

  3. In times of war, all able bodied men are expected to fight should His Majesty call them to arms.

 


 

ARTICLE IV: AMENDMENTS

  1. Amendment

    1. The need to clarify the extent and responsibilities of the various officials in the Kingdom of the Westerlands, and to better service the painstaking day-to-day operation through deferral of responsibility to competent and talented officials. From this day forth, the Executive Branch shall be split into the King's Cabinet, the Royal Administration, and the Advisory Comittee.
