City Council Members:

Maer: Karl Klargus (GavinTheViking)

Marshal: John Frederick de Capua (Gucko)

Tavernkeep: Gawain ap Viktor (___Jacko_)

Steward: Vacant

The City of Metz has witnessed a surge of new residents in the past year. The houses of all of the town's districts have been quickly filling up, leaving few vacancies. Its urban setting has also seen substantial commercial growth as well, with several new shop stalls being constructed. The prosperity of this fine city will surely have no shortage of mention in the third edition of THE METZ REPORT!

= A SECOND WAR =

With the realm already engaged in a war against tyranny, the Horde of Dunamis has declared war on the people of Lotharingia. The band of brigands and mercenaries seek to pillage and steal from our great land. The Grand Army, along with numerous allied nations, stand ready to repel the barbarians. The two forces march to meet on the fields near Ponce, not too far from Metz. The time and the place of the battle can be found here.

= THE RETIREMENT OF OUR BELOVED MAER =

As many of the residents may already have come to know, Humphrey Tullas has decided to step down as Maer. Although his tenure was one full of growth and cheer, he feels as though he desires to rest from his duties. In his place, I, Karl Klargus, will be moving up from Steward into the position of Maer. This then leaves the position of Steward open. If you are interested in filling the vacancy, please contact me by bird or find me in Metz. I would like for those reading to approach Sir Tullas and personally thank him for his hard work he has done to make Metz the bustling city it is today

NEW SHOPS, MOVED BANKER & AUCTIONEER =

In an effort to boost economic activity, there have been several additions to the streets of Metz. These additions would come in the form of market stalls, located in the main square just outside the Waterfront District. There are still a few empty stalls that are FREE to any resident of Metz to fill. On top of that, the banker and auctioneer have been moved to the same square, giving the commercial center of Metz mroe access to those visiting our city.

= MANY NEW FACES =

In the past year, a great number of new people have moved to Metz. These include merchants, mothers, soldiers, craftsmen, as well as two large guilds. These would be the Marked Men, an group who expertise is hunting those that go bump in the night, and the Riders of the Mark, a mercenary company from the mountains of Urguan. I would encourage residents, both new and old, to make your neighbor feel welcome in Metz!

= TAXATION ON THE HORIZON =

With a prosperous city, comes those that have laid its foundations and have built it up. That being said, while Metz does remain tax free for the time being, rumors have circulated of the implementation of taxes. While I can not confirm nor deny this, it is always wise to have a stable and steady income in the event taxation is coming. Although it may seem like a burden, the taxes raised from the citizens of Metz only seek to benefit them. The wages of the Grand Army, contracts for new building projects, upkeep and repair of the roads and walls- all can be paid for through our taxes.
