Gilondir Oronar would walk up onto the stage, looking down at the people who had gathered with a look of sadness. He waited a moment, looking a large variety of the people into their eyes, people he knew, citizens of the city he had served  for years now.

"Thank you all very much for coming here today. It has been some time now, that I stood here, on this very same stage, asking for your support to have me become the Maer of this town and it's people. A lot has happened in said time, good things, but also quite some bad things. I know all too well Courland isn't in the best of times right now, and that makes this announcement even harder for me to make. I stand here before you all today, to tell you with pain in my heart, that I am stepping down from my duty as your Maer."

He would wait a second after having said this due to quite some suprised exclaimations amongst the audience.

"Many have told me I have served you well, though in my opinion I think I could've done better. I hear you asking; 'Why are you stepping down if you felt so compelled to your duty?'. A simple answer to this would be that I am wishing to become a druid, of the Mothergrove druids. And for them to teach me they require me to hold no political positions. I do not want to make this decision, for I feel I haven't completed my duty, but so be it. I thank everyone that has supported me through the years, and I hope you feel you want to thank me too, for that'd mean I'd have done better then I'd say myself... His majesty Joseph Alexander of house Staunton will be starting a next election within these Saint's days, and I have two things to ask each and every one of you. The first being to vote on someone you are sure of would be a good Maer, I do not wish for a bad successor, so please vote right, or don't vote at all. The second thing I ask you is this: our beloved nation is seeing hard times, and it needs us all. I ask you that, may this nation fall to the currupt powers of the rebellion, to join in the fight that will give you the right to be free! Our King and Queen may have fallen, may they always be remembered, but our courage, proudness and willingness to fight for the good will remain. May they never take this nation and it's people's freedom! AVE STAUNTON, AND AVE COURLANDIA!"

"This dreadfully incompetent Mayor is so out of touch he doesn't even realize that the war is over," muses an ex-rebel "Someone might want to let him know, peace has been made, and Courland lost."
