Dreek 1633 Share Posted June 9, 2017 It was a normal day in the cool valley of tal'Azmar, and Drynn was enjoying his stroll through the new capitol of the Kingdom he served. Looking around, Drynn waved to the guards that stood over the imposing gates as he passed through. His trip outside of the hold was one with purpose, a visit to the mines was needed in order to calm his troubled heart. Grinning like a beardling on the day of their birth, Drynn hoisted his pickaxe and headed into the mine. Once inside, he got to work forging his way through the tough stone, left alone with his thoughts and the stone that surrounded him. His life had been depressing ,to say the least, since his return to the Grand Kingdom. The death of his cousin Bastion, the closest friend he had was only the beginning of what was encountered. He thought to himself of how much he had lived, a champion of his kin and for a time, the torch bearer and leader of his brothers and sisters. He had left that all behind when he began his pilgrimage though, forsaking any prestige gained, in an attempt to connect to the purity of his favored god. His journey had taken all from him, his material possessions, his hobbies, his companions, and most dear of all, his wife Frejya Grandaxe. The trek he had faced, and years of meditation left him with a bond that superseded all he had lost however. His connection to the Brathmordakin was enhanced, and left him able to return to his Kingdom a better Dwed, a more complete Dwed. The chaos that he returned to however, could only be dealt with in one way. Fatih. Wyrvun had been the focus of his life from the very beginning. His father Dreek had been killed defending Kal'Azgoth from Ondnarch, and his uncle Igor had saved the god of Purity from its corruption to return the bastion of Purity to the Dwed of Urguan. How could he not dedicate his life to the deity? He practiced purity in all forms of life; saving himself for his wife, dedicating his life to serving the laws of his Grand Kingdom, and protecting the brothers and sisters as their Champion. Though, Wyrvun did not provide a light at the end of the darkness that he now faced. His kin were split and feuding with one another, ignoring how they were all family. Drynn knew that Wyrvun could not provide an answer, for no side held the favor of the complete Brathmordakin. The Ireheart Grand King had expelled the Aengul of Purity, and the Frostbeard Grand King had seized the Obsidian Throne through bloody revolt. The stone around him was the only thought that held Drynn in place, giving him the ability to see the entropy around him. He had dug his tunnel, mined his ore, and was on his way back to his home in Arcadia. Just down the road from tal'Azmar and full of thoughts about haggling with the merchants of the Cloud Temple, Drynn didn't see them until he was surrounded. Hearing that iconic phrase, "Halt", he grimaced before looking up to see who had caught him. To his back were two frothing Humans, pirates by the look, and to his front were two Dwed, one with a crown. The Frostbeard Grand King, Kerwyr stood above him, a new crown placed upon his temple. Before he could speak though, Kerwyr demanded that Drynn be relieved of his belongings, including the tools that kept him tied to the stone, his anchor. Out of the corner of his eye, Drynn saw the other Dwarf, presumably also a Frostbeard, step forward to search him. Drynn could see it as he was searched, the cursed eyes. The Frostbeard that stood beside Kerwyr was cursed with greed, lusting for the high quality tools that Drynn carried with him. His search was ended quickly however, and he was given the dreaded choice, "Your belongings or death". How could he give up the only things that held him to this world, without which his mind would slowly be claimed by corruption, removing the sanity from his mind. He had no choice, his life would be naught without his tools, there was only one path. He asked Kerywr if he would allow the grievous act of kinslaying to occur under his watch. He could see it in Kerwyr's eyes, no answer was needed. He raised his pickaxe in a feeble defense, before the Frostbeard beside Kerwyr slew Drynn where he stood. A Champion of his kin, a once proud Grand King of his nation, a dutiful son to his Hero father, and a faithful husband to his wife Freyja. Drynn son of Dreek of clan Ireheart, Friend of John Horen, 11th Grand Champion of Urguan, and once Grand King of Urguan.
