Introduction:

 

The New Farlands Company was established by Alberto Gutierrez of Santegia. The Company issues "Right of Conquest" Charters for unclaimed territories, essentially allowing owners of these Charters to own land and be recognized as formal territories of the Confederacy of Monteverde.

 

The Confederacy of Monteverde:

 

The Confederacy of Monteverde is a self-declared nation. Its current constitution is based on the text printed upon each charter the New Farlands Company issues. Because this nation has not yet been approved by staff, we offer an OOC promise of assisting each person (that has been issued a New Farlands Charter) with their title applications. Our goal is to eventually apply for Nation status, and for that reason, we require that applicants meet the same activity standards and expect contributions when necessary.

 

Summary:

 

• The Right of Conquest: Each Charter allows the holder of the Charter to lay claim to unclaimed land.
• The Right of Expansion: Each Charter-holder may issue contracts to other parties that bind them to their Charter, so that they may expand their territory in their name.
• Freedom to Organize a Militia: Each Charter allows the holder of each Charter to establish a militia for the defense of their claimed land.
• Collective Non-Aggression Pact: Each territory established by a Charter may not engage in violent confrontations with any other member of the Confederacy.
• Collective Defense Agreement: Each territory established by a Charter is entitled to military assistance for defense purposes.
• National Insurance: Each territory established by a Charter is entitled to financial aid from a collective fund raised from each territory.

 

Governance:

 

Each territory is entitled to one representative. Each representative has one vote. This Parliament allows for laws to be passed for all members of the Confederacy with a 2/3rd's vote. Each representative must be appointed by the leader of the territory, and they must have Skype. Decisions can be appealed on the basis on population, and what the "Greater Good" for the People of The Confederacy /truly/ is. Otherwise, each territory may govern themselves as they see fit, but failure to observe Parliament-imposed laws will result in dire consequences.
