Dead Men Tell No Tales

Recommended Posts

She was in The Dominion on a perfectly normal day. The sun shone brightly, the birds chirped. A few citizens milled around the square, chatting. She saw her Ascended friend chatting in the Clinic, and she sat down on the bench. The loss of her lover weighing heavily on her shoulders, and she still felt the pain from the loss. A bird flew overhead, dropping her a letter. Her eyes widened, tears sprinkled her eyes, she grabbed her soulstone and left, where she ran to a location, she pulled her sword out, at the ready for a trap. Nin’s gift held tight in her hand, she looked around, tears down her cheeks. She took a step forward, then she felt a giant weight on her head, of somebody swung an object to her skull, and then blackness.

Her head throbbed, she woke up in a cave with an unknown figure above her. She was blindfolded, and could not see. She could hear a campfire, and the figure on her awakening shuffled to the fire, grabbed something. She tried to get up, but the figure made a ‘husssh’ noise, and quickly shuffled over and stuffed a herb under her nose. She felt groggy, and tired again. She laid down and soon fell asleep.

She was standing on an island, a giant tree overhead. The massive tree was unlike any other tree, as it shone and sparkled. Underneath the tree rested Nin, leaning against the massive trunk. When he saw her, his face was a calm smile, and he gave a wave. Instantly, she launched herself over and tackled him, planting kisses on his cheek. He laughed, envolving her in a tight hug.

“Why...would She?”

“I guess it was my time to go.” He said softly.

She sobbed, grief wrenching her heart “It was enough to hear that you died, to try to drink to take the pain away, and I see you again..in where?”

“This is not an ordinary realm, it’s not a realm at all.”

“Why would She torment me like this..? To bring me to you, only to ****** you away again?”

“I’ll be watching over you,” his smile never faded, he seemed blissfully happy. “I’ll be in Aeriel’s Realm, it’s like this realm, death is just a stepping stone for me.”

“And I’ll go to Yeu’s Realm..and I’ll never see you again.”

“No, we’ll see each other in the soulstream, that I can promise.”

She closed her pained eyes, then opened them. Tears running down her face, “Can you..please tell Aeriel something, when you go?”

“Anything.”

“Tell Her, that above all else, when Qauv passes, I want him to live a good afterlife. I know he can’t...but even if there’s a slim chance his soul ends up in the Soulstream, I want him to be in a happy afterlife.”

“I’ll tell Her.” He nodded his head, still smiling, “You look pretty...how long has it been since I died?”

“Two weeks..”

“And how are you doing?”

“There’s a war coming...and the September Prince.”

He leaned forward, kissing her nose, “Promise me you’ll stay safe.”

“I’ll try.”

“I’ll be watching over you to make sure.” He promised. Then, a single tear went down his cheek, the clouds brightened above where he stood, he hugged her tighter. “She’s calling for me.”

Her chest broke into sobs, pain lacing her heart. “I love you, so much..”

“I love you too, more than you can image…” The clouds brightened, and Nin turned into embers, which drifted up into the skies.

She woke several hours later with the smell of burning herbs in nose. She sat up, the blindfold was off, and she saw she was in a cave. The campfire and the figure where long gone, and she touched her wet cheek, course with salty tears.

OOC NOTE:

This was a dream that my character had about her loved one, which had passed. I thought it would be a good RP idea to allow her to accept and try to move on from his passing.
