Strike the drum

Sidreal is a scruffy lookign human. He travels town to town looking to raise the moral of the people he finds in these trying times. He has the look of a farmer with dirt stains on his ratty clothing simply acting as a way to reaffirm this impression. When he enters a city he finds a quiet but semi populated spot and sets out a very carefuly painted sign that reads:

"I can not fight but I can farm, I can not heal but I can create, I can not shoot but I can sing. I seek to support those who do what I can not and so I sing for them. I'll not turn a donation away as I have no work but they are not requested nor required. My reward is I may make your day better. Thank you for listening."

Next to the sign he sets out a small wooden bowl and a drum. He begins to sing in his strong tenor voice accompanied by the rythmic thumping of his instument. The song starts quietly but grows in strength as he sings it. His passion and belief in each verse evident in the motions he makes while he sings.

"<chorus>

Strike the drum for Oren,

and once for Malinor.

Strike the drum for Krugamar

and Kal'Urgan and more!

Strike the drum for every man

who's ever bent a bow.

Strike the drum for every man

and soldier striken low.

</chorus>

Yew is the strong right arm

of every Elvish king.

Flax is the harp string that

makes the bow to sing.

Grey goose is the feather

that makes the foe to fly.

Ash and iron the talon

that makes the foe to die.

<chorus>

Now at Kal'Urgan the dead

Came charging up the hill.

We killed them as they came

Till they had had their fill.

With ascended help we did

darken out the sky.

We taught them, but the only thing

They learned was they learned how to die.

<Chorus>

Now in Snowy Fields we faced the boys

All about the town

We beat them fair and square but

The undead rode us down.

In Krugamar we fought in sand

Up to horses' knees and

The undead paid the butcher's bill

not the orcish breed.

Chorus

Now a yeoman's life is hard as hell

On this we can agree.

The world cares not a jot for

The likes of you and me.

The undead and the fallen

They keep us down and low.

But they tremble in their stirrups when

An archer bends his bow.

Chorus

Strike the drum for Oren,

And once for Malinor!

Strike the drum for Krugamar,

And Kal'Urgan, and more!

Strike for every parents child

who's gone off now to war!

Strike for every parents child

who can sing no more..."

Sidreal smiles shyly at those who listened thanking them for their time and retrives his things to travel to the next town to honor those who do what he can not.

((I didn't really know where else to post this so please forgive me if it's in the wrong spot. I can be reached under the minecraft handle smokintek if you would like to contact me. The tune before I adapted it can be found at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJoRskcHpKs. Also please forgive the html tags, I use them to shorten this post and are obviously entierly OOC for ease of reading. As a final copywrite note I DID NOT write the original song I simply filked it all rythm and many lyric credits I pass to them.))

This was really good. I would have put it in roleplay though.
