A Father’s Lament

Long have I served my people with distinction, answering the call of every Rex to follow Vrogak’Gorkil.  Since my people’s formation amid the fires of war, we always had stood upon the forefront of our race’s burden.  To toil in the wroth of war as the chief vanguard, to answer the call of every Wagh, of every plea for assistance, of every shamanistic call to arm.. We stood united, we stood for you.

 

As the vanguard, we had expected the respect affronted to such a responsibility, ours being the first in and always the last out, much to the distress of a grieving and very much wounded father.  By the woes of the world, I stood still strong in face of new generations of cubs to come, of strong uruk to grow up only to be thrown in the face of the next threat to our beloved people, to our clan, and to our standard of  bearing.

 

Recall when my clan was all that remained of our scattered nation, when the Imperial fist came down upon us like a drone we stood as all that remained.  When the sky gods took me away and scattered my raiding party, my son and two other Kheshig held the line while the rest of you were placed carefully into hiding upon Asul’s darkened forest, allowing your escape and safe-passage to Tahn to keep the hope of our War Nation alive.  My son took up his axe, and saw it permanently turned scarlet with the blood of those that sought our extinction.

 

And now I stand with these words delivered to me by my goblin servant, to my anguish I now brandish the axe of my fallen son, my cub... not in desire of justice or the protection of my people.. But for vengeance, for understanding of events I cannot..  Do you not recall the sacrifice my clan has and will continue to make for all of our kin? If your memory fails you, then I shall allow you the single chance to remember and remember well. The blood of my fallen boy sits on this axe head, and it demands an answer from your tongue, “Rex.”
