THE GRAPEVINE

Lending you the finest whispers in town

2nd Edition, Helena

THE GRAPEVINE is an occasionally published scroll for folk throughout the Empire; taking the task of sharing the news from the capital with the utmost seriousness. We believe that the Empire dies in darkness, leaving us no other choice but to bring light upon Imperial affairs for those that might not be privy to it.

BREAKING NEWS!

SOLICITOR-GENERAL DECLARES MARTIAL LAW!

GUARDS UNABLE to properly DEFEND Orenian CITIZENRY

After the trial concluded of Boniface v. Katya Volskaya, Lucy Devorax & Baerin Furnival, with Baerin Furnival still at large as an outlaw fugitive, Cedric Dayne obstructing justice and Lucy Devorax confessing to be possessed by Iblees, the chaos sweeping Helena became detrimental to the safety of the city.

Therefore, the Solicitor-General enacts martial law, meaning that:

ALL MAGIC IS TO BE OUTLAWED;

SUSPICIOUS WOMEN ARE SUBJECT TO ARREST;

SUSPICIOUS ELVES ARE SUBJECT TO ARREST;

ALLOWS FOR ALL CITIZENRY TO ARM THEMSELVES

 “We are all Jesters..” a Templar would comment as he ran from two rabid women attempting to stop him from his daily activities “though I think the Martial law is a good step into restoring order in Helena”. Another muscular man stated “The Solicitor-General is the only one who is looking out for us” as he was practicing with his sword on female mannequins “He understands, unlike other Privy Councillors, that the women question is the greatest issue of our time”

Furthermore, the Solicitor-General is soon to hold an emergency meeting with Leonard de Ruyter and Peter the Poor regarding a strategy to protect the city from heresy and anarchy. Furthermore, Daniel of Bourdon and Jon-Paul de Leumont  are declared as the Solicitor’s Enforcers, meaning they have obtained the special and temporary privilege to hold trials for as long as the martial law lasts.

THE DEATH OF THE KAEDRENI QUEEN

General POPULACE are prone to BLAME the IMPERIAL GUARD

In the latest poll done by THE GRAPEVINE, the populace overwhelmingly considered the Imperial Guard responsible for the death of the Kaedreni queen. As the nation still mourns the loss of a beloved stateswoman, many wonder as to how she was left alone in the war camp.

“Losing a queen during wartime is truly saddening” a sergeant who wanted to stay anonymous stated “While irrelevant folks were trying to get their moment of fame by killing a boar; the enemy managed to decimate the symbol of an entire people, ridiculous”.

Although a peculiar situation, THE GRAPEVINE respects those that have passed and shall therefore not research this topic further.

Regardless of the reason, all from THE GRAPEVINE wish our utmost condolences and send our prayers to the Kaedreni citizenry.

TYBIS DE RUYTER HITS CHILD

HELAINE DE SARKOZY IN state of PERMANENT TRAUMA

THE GRAPEVINE has received damning reports that Tybis de Ruyter, Imperial prominent, beat up HELAINE DE SARKOZY as she was crying on the pavements of Helena. This report is corroborated by Jon-Paul de Leumont, a witness on the scene: “He was just… Beating the child up!” he’d state to THE GRAPEVINE “I wanted to intervene, but Tybis is such a powerful lad, who would dare to stand in between him and the child?”.

A petition for his resignation is rumored to be delivered at the Archchancellor soon. This would be the third scandal hitting the Imperial military in just a week! In the meantime, THE GRAPEVINE wishes to emphasize that it has massive respect for all our servicemen AND -WOMEN in the field.

BONIFACE DECLARED HERO OF THE COURT

CHURCHMAN is BEACON of JUSTICE in these TIMES OF CHAOS

The Solicitor-General today has declared Brother Boniface a “HERO OF THE COURT” after he singlehandedly discovered a crime ring of Heresy between Lucy Devorax, Katya Volskaya and their facilitator, Baerin Furnival.

Being the first trial of such scale: all servants of the court recognize the tremendous service of Brother Boniface, and shall therefore carry this title to his unfortunate future death. This doesn’t come as a surprise however as the Solicitor-General is rumored to be a Church fanatic: having petitioned the High Pontiff to increase its judicial authority over the courts, and sanctioning the Templars as a legitimate law enforcement organization.

While seemingly ceremonial, this declaration might be the start of a worrying trend where the Church supersede Imperial courts. THE GRAPEVINE shall inform the populace of this worrying trend.

“The best source of true and unbiased news for miles around!” said Boniface as he clapped with glee over the magic ban.

Peter the Poor, Archchancellor of the Empire and Cardinal of Helena sits quietly in his office. He happily sips on his tea as a herald barges in.

”Your Eminence, the General-Solicitor has declared martial law and outlawed magic!”

Peter’s face scrunches up momentarily. He waves his hand towards the door

”Go inform the General-Solicitor and the people of Helena that martial law is suspended, as is the other stipulations he has made today.”
