Preamble

Following an inspection and account of all historical documents maintained by the Governor of the Novellan Palace, several parchments were discovered after decades of being kept away from prying eyes. These documents detail grandiose celebrations once held by the Johannian Emperors during the time of Johannesburg, historically a prosperous time for Imperial Oren. These events, detailed by the Empress Julia Adelheid Horen and her fostering ward, Anna Sophia Horen-Preussens, were written and dated for future generations to uphold. After such a discovery, I cannot help but present my findings to the greater citizens of the Empire, so that we might take part in such merriments, together, for many years and decades to come.

Holidays

St. Julia’s Day

In the later part of the winter years, this holiday is observed to celebrate the beauty of love and matrimony. Imperial observants of St. Julia’s Day are expected to honor their spouse or intended, be it with a splendid gift or showing of affection. Contests of singing and dancing are hosted, alongside a game of matchmaking for those of age and unmarried.

The Jester’s Day

In the early and grey months of spring, this holiday is for mischief and fun. Tricks and jokes are welcomed heartily, be they exchanged in conversation or physically conjured up by the mind of their maker. This is also a day to honor the jesters and court fools of the Empire.

Exalted Owyn’s Revelry

In the midst of summer, Exalted Owyn’s Revelry is a celebration of warmth and merriment. Dancing, drinking, and contests of skill are encouraged, and the end of the festivities are met with a maiden crowned as the ‘Queen of the Revelry’.

St. Godwin’s Harvest

During the time when the warmth of summer turns in favor of the brisk chill of autumn, some philosophers believe the veil between our mortal realm and the Seven Skies grows to be at it’s thinnest. A grand masquerade is the main event of this holiday, all attendees expected to adorn themselves in detailed costume.Great bonfires are lit in honor of the dead and lost, whilst pumpkins are carved to line the streets and add to the eerie and exciting environment of the evening.

St. Robert’s Bounty

A jovial holiday celebrated before the cold winter hits, St. Robert’s Bounty is a time for appreciating family and life. Grand feasts are held beside the warmth of a hearty hearth, gourds and fall leaves decorating the banquet tables to add to the atmosphere. The main course of these vast meals usually vary, between a turkey, a goose, or a plumped chicken. Well-wishes and declarations of friendship are also common on this day.

Tuvmas

A holiday always celebrated towards the end of the saint’s year, Krugsmas is a time of gift-giving, charity, and bringing your family close. A grant of mina to the Church is a common practice, as well as buying small trinkets and meaningful heirlooms for your nearest and dearest relatives and close friends. Feasting is encouraged, along with the decoration of a tree with round colored baubles and garlands. It is also rumored that small Yuletide goblins, sent in protest by Krug for not being able to claim the holiday for himself, roam the streets at night and place small gifts inside the shoes and slippers of children.

Historical Events

The Stalwart Feast

An event once held byAnna Sophia Horen-Preussens, this feast is organized to honor all loyal men and women who serve in the Imperial Military. It is also a time for the Emperor or Empress to bestow rightful honors and gifts upon those who have proven themselves and gone beyond the call of duty to protect the citizens of the Imperium.

Maiden’s Day

This is a day reserved for all young maidens and girls, to celebrate their youth and unmarried status. The maidens observe a mass in the morning, before going to weave crowns of flowers to rest atop their heads. The common colors of attire for this day is whites, silvers, and golds.

Heritage Remembrance Day

To look back on our own history and ancestry is to learn, to make better choices than those who came before us. This day is reserved for the honoring of our past leaders and guides, be it a grandfather, aunt, or King. It is a respected tradition to light a candle for their souls and speak in honor of them, to lighten the burden of their souls in the Seven Skies.

St. Robert nods in approval from the seven skies, but reminds the peasantry through his teachings that the greatest sin is not being thin. It was for this reason that one must eat in moderation during St. Robert’s Bounty.
