Thesis on Corrupt Clergymen

Corruption, what is corruption? Corruption is when one abuses their position to benefit themselves or get away with things they should not do. When somebody is given a position or rank they are entrusted to do their duty wholly, without bribes or abusing it for self-gratification. All men are susceptible to bribery and corruption, it is only by a man's own perspective of self-worth are they able to ignore these temptations. It is well known that there have been corrupt members of the Church in the past, abusing their position for their own self-worth and not for the greater good of the canonist realm. A clergyman's role is to spread the teachings of GOD unto all, to guide lost souls back into the light and to help the less fortunate. In a previous thesis, I spoke about how clergymen should not shroud themselves in furs and silks in order to establish their presence, I stick to this. A clergyman should live a life of a poor man, not hoard wealth, relics and power. I believe a clergyman who uses alms money to acquire fancy clothes or accommodation is unfit to serve in GOD’s holy temple for they do not know it truly means to be pius and faithful in the face of adversity..

A corrupt clergyman is somebody who perverts their duties to benefit themselves or associates. A corrupt clergymen travels the realm asking for alms for the poor only to stuff them in his coffers for expensive food and manors, he is somebody who abuses his position to spread his own agenda or grudge against a perceived nemesis. It is somebody who uses their holy position or church to further their own goals and mission, a clergyman must stick to their defined duties. A clergyman who is corrupt knows they are wrong, knows that they commit grave sin but they care not. I truly believe that corrupt clergymen have lost their faith in almighty GOD for they knowingly commit sin without regard for their souls damnation. Who else would knowingly condemn their own soul apart from somebody who does not believe? The corrupt may hide their actions in shrouds of deception and trickery, but GOD sees all.

Keeper Amice would add a note to the bottom of the thesis after having witnessed what he would describe to have been a preventable massacre, it would read the following:

“A corrupt clergy man is somebody who leaves a prisoner for dead after paying a ransom for a separate prisoner of higher status.”

Wieslaw narrowed his eyes at the eerie hypocrisy before him. But what had the pilgrim to say, when he himself danced within the throes of damnation... A holy man for all his life, and yet damned till the world crumbled.
