Those old enough would recognize her to be Rosalia. Her right hand holds the reins of her steed, the left clutches a spear with a vice-like grip. Townsmen and women part as she trots by at a steady pace, her steadfast gaze locked upon the Red Faith temple above. With ease she dismounts and proceeds upward to the temple, never saying a word to the curious onlookers. A few moments later she would descend the stairs and ride away, no longer carrying her spear. Should one of her fellow priests find the spear, plunged into the dirt outside of the temple, they would find a note. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “For too long I have watched from the side as you sat idle, letting the faith rot as you tend to your tavern, caring more for your earthly sins than the faith our Father has burdened you with leading. No more will I tolerate this. I challenge you, Solvi, of clan Farretto, to a duel of honor for the Faith and its future. You have one Saint’s Week to prepare. Should you lose I demand you step down from your position and accept your fate, allowing a new High Keeper to be voted in, as our ancestors have done for centuries. Should you win, the fate of my earthly body is yours to decide. Claiming she’s doing more for the faith than myself? Hm. If she wants to come kill a 74 year old woman, she can have at me. I’m not going to waste time better spent recruiting and sacrificing.” She crumples the paper and lights the corner on her flamebrand, “And if she is so knowledgeable of me, she should know I have not managed or stood behind my own bar in decades.” The flames lick through the paper and up to her burnt fingertips, the majority of her arthritic hands being scarred at this point, “Call a moot.” She brushes her fingers free of ash.
