Issued Summer 1761

 


 

 

    On behalf of, Caedric I of Morsgrad - Ruric by way of Edvardsson, does formally elevate our subject Loki O’Hara to the nobility. Henceforth we recognize Loki as bearing the title of Burgrave, which shall in its entirety pass to his eldest surviving son upon his passing, this continuing in perpetuity. 

 

We do charge the O’Haras with the following obligations as nobles of the realm. The O’Haras are charged with:

 

I. The development and defence of a future Burgh

II. Enforcing the Nordlaw on behalf of the Throne

    a. Upholding the privileges granted therein

III. Obeying the Marchlaw

IV. Providing Fyrd and Retinue to the service of the Throne when the banners are called

V. Attending Warmoot and Gravmoot

VI. Ensuring the safe unhindered passage of Fatherists and citizens of the Highland realm within the confines of their territory

 

We do grant the O’Haras the following privileges as a noble house of our realm. The O’Haras are privileged to:

 

I. Keep an armed retinue at all times. 

    II. Call Fyrd comprised of all future Burgh bondsman and serfs

    III. Levy tax upon their bondsman and serfs

    IV. Exploit their lands for farming and mining

    V. To bear arms in the Court

VI. To grant citizenship to the realm so long as the citizen resides within their future Burgh

    VII. To style themselves (in the case of their Patriarch) as Burgrave

    VIII. To carry out feud upon other Houses of the realm

    IX. To the privilege enclosed within the Marchlaw

    X. To marry others of the noble class so long as they are also leal to the Throne.

 

The O’Haras shall henceforth serve as the stewards of their future Burgh. Serving as the embodiment of their people and the personification of the lands from whence they hail. To this end it is the solemn duty of the O’Haras to ensure the prosperity, the security and the lasting moral integrity of the folk. This being the unquestionable divine duty of all aristocrats within our wide realm. To, in their capacity as the spiritual superior. Shepherd those whom surrender themselves to their rule on behalf of the Father.
