Patronage

Friars of the Order of Blessed Wigbrecht of Liberal Observance are a group of tonsured friars who follow a revised version of the Rule of Saint Jude promulgated by the first Abbot of the Order of Saint Jude - Blessed Wigbrecht Schulze.

Blessed Wigbrecht was the Abbot of Saint Kristoff’s Abbey in Belvitz. He suffered Martyrdom early on in his tenure under mysterious circumstances while engaged in a missionary trip to Rosenyr. The Abbot was a pious monk who through his skill in preaching was given many accolades by the Church hierarchy before the time of his death. Wigbrecht was elevated to both the Abbacy and Monsignorship and encouraged many of his lay brothers to seek ordination as priest-monks such as he.

A staunch defender of the mendicant way and labora, Blessed Abbot Wigbrecht pushed his brothers to both beg and work tirelessly for the aid of others.

Rule & Vows

Unlike their strict Judite cousins who are cloistered in cells, the Wigbrechtian Friars find themselves less restricted in their way of life. These friars are based out of monasteries but are not tied down. As such, they are encouraged to minister to the flocks of faithful outside the confines of their friaries as Wigbrecht did.

The Rule they follow is the Rule of Blessed Abbot Wigbrecht, a revised version of the Rule of Saint Jude which is known to be less rigid when it comes to interacting with the outside world. Within the monasteries, the Friars follow a short daily schedule known as the Horarium. It contains only three mandatory sessions called the Horis Tribur, these are:

Lauds - Morning Prayers of Adoration to GOD

Missa - Mid day celebration of the Mass within the Abbey

Labora Nocturnes - Night time prayer done whilst working

While outside their friaries, these monks follow a different schedule known as the Horis Auferetur. Akin to the schedule while at home, Wigbrechtians must complete three main tasks before they can be let back into the monasteries they dwell within, and as such proof is required.

Mendicatio - Friars must beg and receive an offering

Eleemosyna - Friars are required to give alms taken from the friary

Traloquor - Friars present the recorded names of those they ministered to

Friars of the Order of Blessed Wigbrecht take the standard monastic vows before their tonsuring. These include: Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience.

Monastery

Wigbrechtian Friars are currently housed within the settlement of Vuillermoz, due North behind the city of Reza. The friars are based out of the Greyfriars Preceptory and  led by His Eminence Rodericus as Abbot and His Excellency, Bram Calistovich as Superiority General of the Order.
