God with you, James, my only brother: you are to me as Clement. Never has one ignored the other’s counsel, and I shall not break now this sacred fraternity. Yet, you write such biting words when you know my ear is always yours. Never have I acted under any impairment, I assure you, so to that end I return my word with a calm heart.

 

The wicked will find appropriate atonement, or they will find eternal punishment. This is merely by the rule of God, and is not a matter demanding our intervention. That I trust from you, and for that I trust to you. As to the war itself, James: by Providence, we have already threshed the wheat from the chaff. What is left but to turn in for the millstone?

 

Understand though, brother, that even if we succeed in vanquishing the infernal from the lands of the ungrateful and mercurial, we will find ourselves in no better standing. But do not despair, for I have formed the Garden ahead in the horizon of my dreams. Never am I inattentive of the strings from Heaven. No son will be left behind, and neither will my brother be.
