I thank you for your dedication to the transparency of state, especially in regards to the state you have been removed from. What an obedient servant, truly. Had I known that you did not pay into Imperial systems like every other citizen of the Empire, the door surely would have been closed to you. It’s not your money we would be spending, afterall. You have neglected much context in your missive which I am happy to provide for readers everywhere.

 

It is interesting how people think if one uses words like ‘secret’ enough, it creates an image of a personality. Upon further scrutiny, anyone who is familiar with Imperial institutions would notice that you forgot to mention that the House of Commons of the Imperial Diet has powers of taxation, budgetary oversight, and access to treasury documents. Frankly, you have only told people that we were doing our jobs and doing them well. Most of us, anyways. Furthermore, your servitude to the obstructionist bloc radical Members of the Commons shows that perhaps state craft is not for you. I am certain the Duma will have you on their bench, one day.

 

It is disappointing, Karl, that you have actively benefited from Imperial funds, when you never paid into any system yourself. Are the protection of Haense during the Nordling Wars and a grant ranging upwards to 25,000 Marks to our beloved Northern Geographic Institute insufficient examples of other people's money hard at work for your benefit? I can list other reasons as well, but let’s move on instead.

 

Also, let us begin differentiating between speculation of Imperial development and being given priority access to an ongoing diplomatic deal due to your status as an elected representative with budgetary power. You actively accuse the Holy Orenian Empire of preparing for occupation and expansion, when reality shows that this is not even close to the truth. It begs the question why the military would show us such documents? Perhaps to find a potential snake in the grass? I hope you are aware that the Ministry logo you have enclosed is not part of any existing or previously Imperial office. Works of fiction can be fun, but let us look towards reality for meaningful retrospection. 

 

It is also interesting to read that you admit, plain as day, you were elected to do the bidding of the Hanseti-Ruskan monarchy, rather than the people who voted for you. It is obscene that you would argue for the supremacy of a monarchical aristocratic entity like the Haenseni crown rather than the people you claimed to represent.

 

I leave you with this, Karl; Your country has been expelled. Released from the bonds of fraternity and fidelity and granted independence free of conflict. I suggest you be happy in this like your fellow countrymen, and look inward instead of longingly back to the days where you got to sit all day. You have so much opportunity, after all, now that you are free of Imperial tyrants! So why do you spend your days writing about foreign states? Turn yourself inwards, please, and spend your energy constructively. That you must write this about my government causes me great concern about the internal affairs of Haense…
