Our City, Our Empire

1 Introduction | Securing the Vote: Protecting American Democracy | The National Academies Press

Folk gathering to vote for the representatives of the 22nd Imperial Diet, 1804

Fair people of Providence, upon us a a crucial vote. You would think with an establishment that has taxed us dry that there would be much to show for it, but we have empty homes and empty stores for the fiscal troubles we endure. Men and women grind themselves down, only to be provided enough tax tokens to endure another annum of making just enough to make ends meet.

With this strain so great, why is it the people are not better provided for? Where does this money go? How come our incentives in the city are just enough to make ends meet?

That is why I, Ciprian de la Baltas, shall actually bring the city's concerns to the House of Commons as a representative who has the means and interest to see its people taken care of. Let us replenish our stockpiles and bring back the guilds that kept our Empire so productive - no longer will we try to answer every issues by wringing every minae out of our citizenry, but see contributions made that suit our workforce and artisans.

Waste not, want not - so let's not waste an opportunity to provide for ourselves, reducing the burden on the fair people of Providence, and see to the City represent itself on the National stage. Mismanagement is a vote away from being solved - put governance into good hands, hands of the people that share your interests as not just citizens of our Empire, but of our City.

Humbly yours,

Lord Mayor Ciprian de la Baltas, Master of Books

"If Mister de la Baltas really knew how his city worked he would know that the mayor and CITY assembly can raise and lower tax brackets themselves."  Keaghen would say

"Maybe he should stick to being Lord Mayor instead of pointing fingers.
If he doesn’t understand how the local law works, he should not be elected to lead in the Commons."

"These taxes fuel the whole Empire - lowering them in contempt of the budget is not a solution. As I have stated plainly, the goal would be to legislate the means to reduce the tax burden by implementing a national system that would get us the resources we would otherwise waste minae on." Offered the man in exasperation.
