Update on the Voidal Tear

An Announcement from the Office of The Crestfall Ministry

24th of Horren's Calling, 1848

Citizens of the Empire,

   Your government remains diligently at work in defeating that which threatens us, and by extension, the whole of Canondom. A great many speakers came to the Diet to advise this government on the Voidal Scaring that threatens our shores. It is not the intent of this Government to withhold from the public, or our neighbors in the Grand Kingdom, vital information on actions we are taking to defeat these horrors and so the Chancellery shares the following information with greater Almaris;

A great many theories surfaced as to the origin of the tear and the collapse of the floating city; however the Imperial Government cannot declare with certainty at this time the culprit(s) responsible. We know with certainty a voidal 'tear' - a rip in the fabric of our world - was used to keep Ando Alur afloat, and that something caused a disturbance in this tear which brought their city down. Theories abound, all credible ones are under investigation - we know that malignant voidal entities were known to have consorted with the citizens of Ando Alur, likely deceiving them as to their intent and purpose. We encourage those living denizens of Ando Alur  to come forward and write to the Baroness Woldzmir or this office, to help us rectify this great tragedy. As one Mali to another, I appeal to your logic to seek out this Government to discuss this matter.

All information gathered at this present time suggests that the horrors emerging from the void are not acting under greater command or purpose, they act solely with what little intellect they possess in pursuit of limited objectives. We have received some disturbing intelligence, however, that these voidal monstrosities may not remain in such a primitive state forever - and thus our opportunity to strike is now, my fellow Imperials.

 

Through discussion with the NGS, members of the Society of Saint Adrian, Druids and Magi of the Empire, we have developed a provisional plan - one in which we believe shall be successful in ending this threat in our territory. The plan is simple in understanding, but complex in execution - and for the purposes of protecting our Imperial agents and Soldiers, the timing and location of these activities shall remain secret.

I am immediately directing the ISA to continue its partial mobilization and be prepared to conduct a 'scorched-Earth' offensive, charring and ashing the void terrain. We recognize this is not a long-term solution, but it aims to halt or reduce the growth of the voidal poisoning. We must be prepared that the Void is not passive to our offensive, and that it will seek to defend itself - we know that GOD is on our side, and the ISA is well trained, well led, and well equipped - the Chancellery has full faith in General Ruthern and the ISA to see this campaign to success. 

 

In addition, the NGS shall be supported to conduct continued research into the Voidal areas within our territory with assistance of the ISA so long as it is coordinated in advance.

The Baroness Woldzmir is coordinating a joint effort of Druids and Magi to repulse the scarring through a magical ritual, under ISA protection. We believe this shall deliver a decisive blow and end this conflict before it begins in earnest.


Further, this Government has deemed it unfit that the Empire to be surprised by those matters occult, magic and arcane. The Archchancellor and myself are providing options for His Imperial Majesty on the development of magical enterprises and institutions. To include the construction of a magic district within the Capital and the harnessing of Magical talent as members of the Imperial defense apparatus; These efforts shall  server to promote, encourage, and enhance the arcane studies of the Empire in a way that is aligned with the edicts of GOD and the EMPEROR.

"Dear Vice-Chancellor. I am greatly impressed with the works done to push back threatening Void from the rift formed over fallen Ando-Lur. However, I am greatly distressed by the creation of an army of Voidal mages for the Empire. I am aware that the Vice-Chancellor is a pious canonist, but I greatly suggest that his honour would re-read the Scroll of Gospel; the Book of Owyn, and the Scroll of Spirit; Epistle to the Magi. I shall end this letter with point 13 of the Epistle to the Magi, 'This is the sin of envying GOD, a desire which cannot be attained, and the deepest blasphemy.' With this, I wish that God-bless you, and that the Empire will carry its enterprise piously, as a Holy Empire.
