The men and women of Daeland should take great pride and care when grooming and maintaining their tresses.

MEN

HAIR

Longer hair is a symbol of status within our warrior ranks, hair is not cut unless a fight is lost. Our greatest and fiercest warriors are easily distinguished amongst others by their long hair, to lose a battle and cut one's hair, humiliates Daeland and oneself. For those who do not necessarily want to adorn long hair, usually only a section of hair at the bottom of the head is kept long to maintain status within the clan.

To cut or shave a man or woman's hair in public is considered a form of disgrace, dishonour and punishment. If one is found guilty of breaking a clan law, his head and facial hair is shaved.

Before a battle, men often apply a white chalk paste to sections of their hair, producing a striking, white strip believed to give a more intimidating appearance upon the battlefield.

FACIAL HAIR

Daelish men typically adorn full beards as it is considered rather unusual for a man to have no facial hair past boyhood. Those with longer beards often intertwine a braid, either side of their mouth, falling from the ends of their moustache.

HATS

A bonnet is a soft woollen Daelish hat and the customary wear of labourers and farmers. It is felted to produce a water resistant finish and the flat shape is an effective protection against the weather as it can be pulled down in various directions for additional cover.

WOMEN

HAIR

Usually, hair is worn long and Daelish women often include and favour elaborate braids or curls within their hair. Braided styles include three- or four-stranded weaves in which decorative ribbon can also be twined into the hair. Braids are also crossed and twisted to form intricate styles. Aside from ribbon other numerous types of decorative hair ornaments are used such as flora and beads, especially for formal affairs. The aforementioned beads are made of glass, worn at the ends of tresses of hair, and ribbons are of varying shades of gold, silver, bronze or even tartan.

Only after marriage, would a girl be permitted to wear her long hair up occasionally.

HEADDRESS

A fillet is a band worn around the crown of the head, made from cloth or metal and adorned with beads and gemstones. Those of noble standing may wear a thin band of gold around the forehead or neck for formal events called a lann. Women also often adorn leaves and foliage entwined within their locks and braids; an appreciation of the earth as forged by Cruthaiche.

Spoiler

Dont really see any discrepancies. This one just seems like a deeper dive, though if you find the culture differs too much from it's original form let us know in our discord and we'll discuss it

Thanks!

Spoiler

As Guzr pointed out, these culture posts are simply adding in much more detail to the original to allow our player base to have as much information as possible and therefore a better RP experience.
