Vespira L. Declares War

[!] Made of on her stops, a sigh crossing her mouth with a smug smile as she pinned one of the flyers up where she wanted a few certain girls to see it [!]

To the feathered air heads who plump their lips hoping to force a prince into marriage through conception out of wedlock.

You'd be wise to silence your false perceptions on myself, or my husband. The thing about older women is we hear everything, wealth only makes that better. You would easily paint myself as a target for causing chaos in court, and "arguing" with Their Imperial Majesties. Most of you are young enough you were spared my cruelty in the courts when I was your age. But I know gossip better than anyone, allow me to reassure you all for those who did not see the actual truth, is that of course, myself and my entire family was upset with the loss of our home, so my husband and I were asking reasonable, fair questions. Unlike most women I try to keep a level head, and not dwell on the dead and losses, but look to rebuilding and the future, as my late father taught me. If The Imperial Family has a problem with my concerns, they're free to address me themselves, I certainly wont accept suggestions or criticizm from the likes of yourselves. I don't need the poor wannabe's hanging on the Palace coattails who barely themselves qualify as nobility to bring MY behavior into question.

And for those of you who are? Well... I'm currently keeping all my eyes on you, rest assured, I won't punish you and your gossip by embargoing you from my products, not that any of you are loved enough to afford them anyway. You happen to be horrible at keeping one another's secrets, and near Astercalia, no less?...

Yours for now, and long after,

Odessa, after having read the declaration over her morning coffee, sat there for some time afterward, mulling over the new, yet vague and perplexing information. She had never once heard of a 'Vespira' mentioned during conversations she was exclusively privy to. Tapping her chin, Odessa thought, and thought of a way to make this right; she didn't want such a petty strike against her empress's court, nor did she want for word to travel and mar other, prospective courtiers' opinion of the Aster Court. Upon finishing her brunch, the chamberlain topped off her coffee and headed off to battle in her office, bearing a quill as her weapon, the imperial parchment the field in which she fought.

Miss Vespira,

I write to you with the most sincere intent, however; I must say that I'm confused by the avenue you took to address this issue. As the Lady Chamberlain of the Aster Court, I would have much preferred it if you came to me regarding the undesirable behavior of courtiers, as a punishment would have been dealt to these individuals swiftly. Instead, you put up these fliers, and humiliate the court which the Imperial Family has created? Paint me baffled, and just a bit offended, by this behavior from you, Miss Vespira, a woman whom I've never met.

Though, I'm a forgiving person, and I would like to give you the opportunity to alter my perspective. That being said, I'd like to extend an invitation for you to enjoy tea-time with the empress and I, so that we might have the opportunity to talk out our differences and come to a reasonable and fair conclusion to this conflict.

With utmost respect

HER EXCELLENCY, Odessa MacPherson, Lady Chamberlain of the Aster Court

The letter was folded neatly, and included the crest of House Novellen, and the official seal of the Empress's office.

"Didnt she once make up a rumor about me kissing some servant boy?" asked Anne Caroline one of the treasury aides she abused on a regular basis.
