THE FAITH OF THE GREAT MAW

The Great Maw is the entity that Clan Ogr used to worship, back in their prime. They believed that it was responsible for the bountiful feasts and endless piles of food granted to the Olog-Hai on a daily basis. Some would assume The Great Maw to be the Embodiment of Glutros, however, whether this is the truth or a simple assumption is unknowable, for the Ologs of Clan Ogr only called it by this name.

Whilst the ages of the good Ogr Ologs have since passed, the Faith of the Maw still stands lively to this day. Where most of the Ologs of Clan Ogr have died out in bloody struggles, verocious raids, and the brutal hunts some descendants used to bestow upon the Orcs, some had managed to survive this onslaught. They would later join the ranks of Clan Ungri, under Drekür’Ungri.

One of these ologs was the titanic and brutish Meat’Head’Ungri. After his transfer from the fallen Ogr Clan into the ranks of Clan Ungri, he started to teach Drekür and his Ungris the faith of the maw. Having been greatly excited by the prospect of a being that might supply the clan with such bounty, the Popogoth decided to accept the Faith into the Clan, and be guided into how to worship this entity.

THE WAY OF WORSHIP

After being educated by the remainder of Clan Ogr, Drekür’Ungri ordered the construction of a giant sinkhole into the surface of the earth. Pieces of sharp rock, metal, and wood filled this pit, to make it appear as the giant jagged teeth of The Great Maw. After such an order was given, the Goblins of Clan Ungri quickly got to work- and soon, the sacrificial pit was ready.

Each cactus week, a single Descendant sacrifice was ordered to be hurled into the deep pit of jagged teeth. Following this, on special selected days, feasts were thrown, revolving around The Great Maw. These would be alongside activities like fighting competitions and drinking games. These would always be accompanied by general worship to the Maw, in the form of sacrifice, general praise like shrine construction, and the ‘feeding’ of the maw in the form of large amounts of food.

Glod would twirl his blade, addressing the group of dwarves. "Fer Balor." He said quietly. "Fer Balor." Chorused the group. They would one day come to slay the beast.
