A Weefolk's Return

On that night, the salty, cold air blew into the seaside village of Honeyhill.

The wind beat against the windows and burrow doors, and the rain hammered

upon the grassy roofs of each little halfling's home.

Thunder cracked in the sky and the clouds swirled in fury.

But this, dear reader, was not the strangest thing to happen on that fateful night...

 

A strange occurrence, one that had not happened in 14 years, struck again that night.

A great beast of the sea, large in size and thick of skin, swam into the relatively shallow waters.

The Whale

 

It sputtered and spat, and it heaved and blew. And from its blowhole emerged a figure. 

A halfling girl soared through the air, landing with a loud splash in the water next to the beach.

Her clothes were dirty, and she stank of salt and fish. Her red hair was soaked, and her breath was weak.
And suddenly... the rain ceased.

 

Oh, how the little girl was amazed to see the moon again, it's light almost blinding in comparison to the pitch darkness of the beast's maw.

And so... she was free. After 14 years, the girl had returned once more.
