A Letter of Resignation

The Head Maid of the Palace of Oren shall henceforth retire from her position in the Imperial staff.

Her health has been in decline for some time now. Her eyesight has worsened to the pointe that she has need of spectacles to see the dust and clutter she is intended to clean. And, perhaps from years of carrying buckets of cleaning water or heavy trays of food and wine up and down the palace steps, her knees are failing her as of late. Perhaps some of the fine members of court have seen her begun to slow from her usual pace, or seen how she has started to use a cane for her long walks.

After sixty years faithful service to the Empire, The Head Maid resigns to rest and care for her own health. She thanks the Imperial Court for allowing her so many years of independince and opportunitie under their employ.

Former Head Maid of the Palace Augustine

Odessa made sure to see the faithful Miss Rosary Fairfax off on her last day of work, and help her collect any personal artifacts she would be taking with her from the Aster Hall. The Lady Chamberlain spoke may words of praise to the older woman, thanking her for her service and ensuring her welcome back should she ever wish to visit, or work part-time in her retirement should she grow bored.

The Aster Hall would certainly miss having the familiar face of Rosary Fairfax around, but let it be known that she will never be forgotten. To ensure the retired maid's memory, Odessa had a likeness of Rosary painted and framed, thusly hung in the office building for all to see. Beneath the painting, a plaque was inscribed as such: "Miss Rosary Fairfax, Semper Fidelis, Circa 1864."

From the seven skies watched the first Governess within Orenian history, Anna Henrietta. A smile beamed on her face as her palm placed to her heart.

"She was one of the things I did right."
