Hey everyone; as some of you may know I was recently promoted to Scout, then later Trainer of scouts for the krughaai, so I was thinking could someone explain to me what exactly a scout is, there purpose how I would train them there ranks, aswell as RP qualities such as would they be faster then normal orcs? use a bow and arrow more often, maybe scouts should replace archers for the krughaai would the ranks for scouts be like

Headscout(Name) - Perhaps the Nob equivelent for scouts

Masterscout - A scout who has shown honour and is a general good scout experienced in the area of scout

Trainer_Of_Scouts_(name) - Trains the other new scouts on how to be a scout and basic skills this is what a master scout could turn too after he has turned too old to be able to fight in such fierce combat enviorments.

Scout_(Name)- Has gone through the training of being a scout and is proved honourable enough to have the rank scout in his title.

InitiateScout_(Name) These are typically young orcs who are just being introduced into scouts.

Also what does it take to be a scout? Perhaps when you hit the rank of Warrior you have the option to switch into the Scout rank, or maybe you are chosen by The Dominus or Warlord?

Also what is the JOB of scouts? Is it too patrol the lands in time of war for an enemy invasion? or is it too look for small bandit camps and alert them to the Krughaai.

Also this is another thing I thought about, considering a Scout may spend long hours in solitude would it be reccomended for them to have a Wolf companion or perhaps gaining a wolf could be apart of the training? Also if per say a scout was confronted by a group of thugs wouldn't there charismatic skills be needed, for example the other day I was with BobNorton and we were on the brink of being killed but I managed to be nice to this guy and he now gives up permission to use his whole wheat farm under certain condition that we replant.

This is just me rambling on about what I thought of in Art class today so it may not make any sence.

Well I hope you take some time to do some research, it seems a bit silly to have someone in charge of a unit if they don't understand what that unit does or is.

Anyways, the sole purpose of a scout is reconnaissance. You go out ahead of the main force and essentially look for the enemy, and report back on their numbers/location/patrol patterns/etc. You are not a combat unit per-say, though you should be versed in some fighting techniques. If your members were to be used in a combat capacity, you would fall into a long-range support role, with a bow.

For example: if you send a few scouts out to scope out an area, and they come across a bandit camp, they would stay back, out of sight, take observation and report back to a high ranking official in the main forces.

A scout needs to know the wilderness, possess solid tracking abilities, have the know-how in order to live off the land, solid observation skills, stealth is also extremely important.

The point is not to be seen, so if you run into an enemy group and are discovered, you've already failed. A wolf companion would not be recommended, as it would probably just make it that much easier to spot you, but if you really wanted have wolves, then they should only be used in combat.

A scout's primary role is gathering information and getting it discretely to higher command. Where's the enemy located, how many are there, what armor and weapons are they using, what activities are they involved in, are they building, are they farming, when are they most vulnerable? Things like that. You want scouts that can gather this information accurately and discretely and get it back to higher command without getting caught. They need to be able to keep their cool, lie and avoid confrontation if caught and they need to be able to handle bandit encounters. Dying while in possession of valuable information is no good.

For the sake of role-play, most scouts would travel light. Light armor, light weaponry, a little food. No wolves, wolves bark and yipe and are a dead giveaway. Scouts also ought to be able to bind their sneak ability, as it comes in really handy.

A scout also needs to be skilled in talking with people and/or bullshitting them. There is a lot of valuable intel to be gained from simple small talk with the locals.
