PUMPKIN HARVEST

of ‘94

An Acrean day of events...

 

As the eternal night of Acre lifted, the failing harvests of the past years grew bountiful. With it sprouted all sorts of crops of the combine - radishes and cabbages, tomatoes and carrots. Yet, in the midst of all the shrubbery lay lush pumpkins. Each one was unique in size, its ribbed skin a deep orange ready to be cracked open. The farmers, blessed with plentiful crops, could not quite believe the amount of pumpkins that sprung by the river beds in their patches.

 

In the year of ‘94 Baron Wolfgang of Acre, welcomes all across Almaris to celebrate the success of this year’s harvest. Not only shall harvest be broken, but Wolfgang will also deliver a few words to address the current state of the barony as a whole. The itinerary of the day is as followed below:

 

DETERMINING THE HEAP

There is an open invitation to harvest pumpkins with no fee. Usually dwelling northwest of the barony along the water’s edge, tools will be supplied to uproot the pumpkin of their choosing.

 

CARVING COMPETITION

Once everyone has a claim to a pumpkin, each individual (though children are advised with an adult’s help!) will be given a carving knife and tasked to show off their artistic flairs. A selection of judges, including Wolfgang de Vilain, shall go around and determine a winner who will receive 250 mina and a trophy for being the ‘Best of the Bunch’. The worst carved pumpkin, also judged, shall have its artist put in the stocks on the main square for people to throw the innards of their pumpkins at. Though, this shall be with no malicious intent, and merely for a jest.

 

HARVEST DELICACIES

Those in attendance shall enjoy fresh produce from the Barony of Acre, as well as baked goods provided by Anne Sarkozic-Huntshill.
