So, as of late, most of us have acquired our villain apps and have been trying to actively create new, unique RP experiences across the land. As most of you also probably know, this has been damn near impossible because of how offended anyone that we try to engage becomes (last nights event being the epitome of it). My question to you brothers (and sisters) is how do we continue to create RP events for people without all the drama/complaints. Short of attacking a nation, engaging in justifiable villainous actions should NOT require me to ask a person OOC and IC for their permission before doing so, as some people seem to think.

People need to realize this is an RP server, and in turn will have conflict. Orcs are an aggressive race, we aren't going to isolate ourselves in Krugmar attempting to grow dandelions in the sand so we can skip around holding hands and be merry, becoming BFFs with every race. I'm tired of people treating LoTC as their new SMP/freebuild server and this needs to stop. You want to build your own town, so you wander around and then decide to build on Krugmar owned lands without the Rex's permission and then wonder why we are upset, seriously? Do people know anything about Orcs? Or have these attempts at shedding all conflict gone on so long that Orcs are on par with elves in terms or ferocity? When we lose the undead (*cheers*) how are we supposed to create any sort of racial tension if we are met with tears and threatened ban reports (not that they will stick) for any action we take, no matter how legal it is?

The Racial Battles will be very fun in my eyes but, say if a war is going on but it is'nt like a massive battle field with people dieing around you, and its just as if you are the opposing race and you are seen, many reports will be a Non Rp kill thing like 'He only said ''DIE!'' etc

and will have to find a way to help alll players who Late-join this battle to be clarified and not just be left out. The 'war has been declared on ____' thing is good but it does'nt stay there, I think there should be a plug-in whatever you would like to call it were you can browse /help and look around and find on called 'war' to activate you will have to type /war and it will display all stats such as All wars that are happening ( If there is more than one type something like /war 2) and other stats e.g Deaths for each side. Location of attack for example Dwarves are attacking Elfs at serpent ridge etc. Also having stats and updates of when the war has be declared over and based on factual info to declare winner. ((This is not a request! Just a little idea I just thought of :). ))

Doesn't Cassandra fly around in god-mode? What fun is that? I would have no complaint if there was actually an opportunity to fight with her, rather than just having our city repeatedly blown up by someone who is invincible.

Then why are you allied/neutral with all of them?

because everytime we do something someone files a banreport or they whine, also if we went to war it would leave the nation vulnerable to undead

Neutral dose not mean we do not attack.. it just means there is no nation war.

Exactly what austin said. Every single time we move to do something we are met with people refusing to rp, people getting upset with ANYTHING we do (IMO mainly because there are more of us), and generally unreceptive/offended by any sort of conflict. So what are we to do? Despite the majority of us having VApps, people tend to think we need to get their permission before doing something as simple as raising our voice to them. The server population is too complacent with peace, and generally seem not to want any sort of conflict (without conflict, there is no RP, just people sitting around talking); the second someone tries to create some, everyone switches to OOC and bickers, followed shortly by rushing to the Ban Report forum. It is simply ridiculous. (Of course, if they outnumber us then they have no problem whatsoever and are more than happy to engage us)

Perfect example of what I mean: Very often, people wander into Krugmar (and into sanjezal, which clearly has many signs saying Orcs Only), run up to the first Orc they can find and tell us how stupid we are/insult our leader, but are shocked when we try to run them off or kill them (following some RP on our parts).

The biggest problem is that (from my experience) the other nations refuse conflict because of the undead. This isn't the undeads fault, it's poor roleplaying that's at fault. Whenever I try and create racial tension I'm bombarded with people screaming "We can't fight while the undead are in Aegis!" well... why not? This line of thought is actually the opposite of realistic or immersive. The medieval era that Aegis is set in revolved around war. If Aegis was a more realistic medieval setting then the orcs would have waged war just for all of these pinkskins building on our land. The average player has what I like to call the "Warcraft Mentality." Basically we're all supposed to hate each other, and we all have legitimate reasons to want to fight. But we never can because there's always some "greater threat." The thing is though, even Blizzard sees how terrible this concept is and is trying to steer away from it.

The worst I've seen though is getting yelled at (OOC) just for "being mean." This was before I had my villain app. I was threatened OOC just for "raising my voice" and being arrogant. No action was taken at all on my part.

I agree with Susitsu. I should say I did. Whenever I try and create fun conflict everybody gets pissed because they don't want to "lose." People get to attached to their characters. they get too attached to their minas and things. This makes them turn to OOC to stop them from losing anything. When this happens it takes away all the fun of RP. The effort in having to defend yourself in the ban reports, and in having to sit and argue with people that want nothing more than to dissolve all conflict so they never lose becomes too much. I've gotten to the point where I will just abandon an RP session because people would rather argue in OOC. There's nothing fun about having to sit and argue for 20 minutes over 100 minas, or some iron ingots. Or even a short walk from the Cloud Temple. It's gotten so bad that I am at the point of reimbursing people with minas and items out of my own pocket just so they don't have a QQ-convention in OOC chat. The more it happens the more it sucks out my desire to even login.
