Once a friend of great use to Crothstad, this familiar can often be found high in the sky above the hunter as it surveys the surrounding area with its keen eyes. While near silent while flying, Haelstrom is not afraid to dive down with a loud screech and join in the hunt itself.

General Redlines

Spoiler

- Haelstrom may be used as a normal companion, however its abilities may only function during hunts.

- Haelstrom has the strength of an average hawk.
- Should Haelstrom become close to death, it will fly out of battle and go on a [4] OOC day cooldown before it returns to its owner. Despite this, should Haelstrom somehow die, he will respawn in [7] IRL Days.

- For the purpose of this CArt, a creature is classified as a player-played CA or a non-descendant non-player character, such as a deer for example.

Eyes of the Hunt [Combative]

Oftentimes used to assist Crothstad in the times before he disappeared, Haelstrom is exceptional at tracking and hunting of many different animals. While on a hunt, Haelstrom may be sent into the air over [1] emote so that it can silently fly overhead of its owner, surveying the land. Should the familiar spot an enemy, it will fly down to its owner's arm over [1] emote and make them acutely aware of its position.

Eyes of the Hunt Redlines

Spoiler

- Haelstrom has enhanced vision, allowing it to see even spectral or invisible enemies.
- Haelstrom will not give a combative advantage when attacking other players unless OOC consent is given and it is considered a hunt. The owner could not stumble upon an invisible ghost and use Haelstrom to see it, however, if they have planned an attack on the creature’s lair and have OOC consent, such would be allowed.
- Haelstrom requires [1] emote to land, and [1] emote to fly into the sky. It then goes on a [2] emote cooldown before it can fly up again.
- Should Haelstrom and its owner be hunting an invisible creature, upon landing the owner may now see the creature for [2] emotes.
- Each time Haelstrom lands on its owner's arm, the owner will become aware of the hunted creature’s location, and their nearby party within a [5] block radius will become aware of the hunted creature’s approximate location. This has a range of [48] blocks (shout).

- Can only fly in the air for [6] emotes before being forced to land.
- Cannot be used at the same time as Scout!

Scout! [Combative]
A great hunter must never be ambushed by his own foe, or so Crothstad often recited to others, though it was because of Haelstrom that he was successful at this. Haelstrom may be sent forward ahead of the hunter with a command to find the approximate amount of enemies within an area. Requiring [3] emotes, the hunter may first point Haelstrom towards the location to scout. Haelstrom will then fly over the target and gauge the rough number of targets 0ver [1] emote before returning to its owner upon the last emote. Once Haelstrom returns to its owner's arm, they will feel an approximate sense of how many targets are within the area, either low (0-3 enemies) , medium (4-7 enemies), or high (8+ enemies). Furthermore, the hunter will receive information about the type of armor worn by the enemies (typically leather / chain / plate), and will also receive a description of the types of creatures if Haelstrom has seen them before.

Scout! Redlines

Spoiler

- Haelstrom will not give a combative advantage when attacking other players unless OOC consent is given and it is considered a hunt. The owner could not stumble upon an invisible ghost and use Haelstrom to see it, however, if they have planned an attack on the creature’s lair and have OOC consent, such would be allowed.
 - Scout! is not perfect, and will only detect enemies that Haelstromcould see. Enemies could be hidden within buildings, for example.
- Haelstrom will not give a combative advantage when attacking other players unless OOC consent is given and it is considered a hunt.
- Requires [3] emotes, [1] to point Haelstrom towards the area to scout, [1] for Haelstrom to fly towards and over the target, and [1] for Haelstrom to return. Scout! will then go on a [2] emote cooldown before it can be used again.
- The sense of approximate enemies feels akin to instinct as if the hunter and Haelstrom are in tune.
- Requires line of sight of the area to be scouted and has a range of [48] blocks (shout).
- Cannot be used at the same time as Eyes of the Hunt

- The hunter will receive information about the types of armor worn by the creatures, as well as the creature types if Haelstrom has seen them before. This is not perfect however - a wight may be identified merely as a ghost, or an eidola as a golem, ect.

- During events, an ET may decide to have Scout! require extra emotes, or may give more or less information about foes.

The Hunt's Calling [Passive]

Rumored to be the reason that Crothstad never left the woods, upon wielding one of his relics the user would find that their mind becomes drawn towards large and difficult hunts. Often those who yield multiple relics would feel their minds before more instinctual, acting as if they were an animal themselves, with each relic drawing their mind further towards the great hunt.

Like the legendary Crothstad who yielded this relic in the past, the holder’s mind will undergo a wild transformation that scales depending on how many relics they possess. Someone who holds one relic, for example, may simply feel the need to hunt for all their food, though someone who holds three may spend hours of their day within the forest. Should all six successfully be brought together, the owner may lose their mind to the thrill of the hunt entirely.

The Hunt's Calling Redlines

Spoiler

- Collecting one or two of the Crothstad Relics will cause the holder’s mind to be more inclined towards hunting. For example, they may feel the need to spend time out in nature or hunt for their own food.
- Collecting three or four Crothstad Relics will cause the owner to become more animalistic, oftentimes feeling a rush of intense adrenaline from hunting. They may operate more on instinct and may become upset if someone hunts on their land. The feelings that one feels towards the hunt are now akin to an orcish blood rush.

- Those with three or more artifacts will additionally become difficult to coordinate with and speak to, as their mind becomes obsessed with the hunt. They will no longer work well with others, and will not participate with other's plans.
- Collecting five Crothstad Relics will put the owner’s mind on the verge of becoming completely consumed by The Hunt. No longer would they willingly spend time in cities and eat food they did not hunt. The user will also feel heavily inclined to create shrines using animal bones, much as Crothstad himself did.
- Collecting all six Crothstad Relics will cause the owner to become completely lost in The Great Hunt, powerless to the desire to hunt larger and greater animals and creatures.
- The effects listed above are examples of what could occur at each tier, players are welcome to roleplay the effects more harshly or create new ones should they fit the theme.
- Even if stored away in a chest, the owner will still feel the effects of the relics as they call them towards The Hunt.

Explanation of the effects:

Haelstrom exists as a familiar once used by the great hunter Crothstad. The bird retains many of the abilities that Crothstad would have utilized, and players are able to draw upon them in hunts to more easily track creatures or scout the location ahead.
