EXPERIMENT-XI

The Machine War

Name of Artifact: Experiment-XI

ET Responsible for Artifact: Werew0lf

Effects:

Experiment-XI was made to fulfil one purpose: in order to augment the mortal body and to strengthen it without causing irrefutable damage to the general descendant, or to do so without making a descendant inhuman. Originally, Experiment-XI was scrapped in favour of simply using advanced technology, but this ancient syllable of blue-prints is currently regarded in the Dissonant Sphere to allow those who wander the scrapyard realm proper sustainability.

This experiment is considered a lengthy, painful and full-body procedure and surgery that grants those who undergo it numerous benefits that will help and support them in surviving within the junkyard world without dying from its gruesome effects, lack of food and water, or the strenuous battles they face constantly.

➢ Undergoing the ritual for Experiment-XI is extremely painful and the user will be left inert for the next (1) OOC day due to this.

➢ Further to this, Experiment-XI is a gruesome surgery that is done whilst the subject is still alive. This will leave the user most likely traumatised, and they may find themselves going through the effects of post traumatic stress disorder when it comes to: body modifications, or in extreme cases, when they see augmented limbs (fear of automaton limbs, etcetera).

➢ This CArt can be forced on the person in question should the event lead to this. Generally, OOC consent will be requested out of courtesy, but it is NOT a necessity.

➢ If the user has a klone, this does not transfer to their new body.

➢ This surgery cannot be completed on non-descendants. If it is tried during the event, the consequences of this will be roleplayed by the ET (Werew0lf) in question.

➢ If the user in question eventually becomes a non-descendant, the mechanical parts in their body will not work.

➢ This surgery cannot be replicated by automaton craftsmen and is considered highly technical (i.e. only way to get this is via events).

Mechanical Lung & Stomach:

The user will be granted large pipes within their lungs that helps siphon any smoke inhalation. Due to this, the user will be able to breathe in smoke without any issues, breathe in water, and will also waste less oxygen thus granting more stamina. On top of this, their stomachs will be augmented to allow survivability without food consumption or requiring to drink water.

➢ The user will be granted automaton technology fitted into their lung and stomach, either as pipes or cogwheels, that grant these effects. Just to note: the lungs are still present as an organ, so if someone does stab them in the chest, they cannot roleplay the metal pipe fitted in their lung blocking this as armour. It cannot be used as a bypass in CRP.

➢ The user will be granted the ability to breathe and inhale smoke, thus, not suffocating from a lack of air. Their lungs will naturally clear out smoke and oxygen without any issues. This can be used in combat.

➢ The user will be granted the ability to breathe in water for a longer period of time, not suffocating from a lack of air. This cannot be used in player versus player combat, but can be used outside of combat and in or during ST events (you do not require ET permission to use this).

➢ The user will be able to survive longer without food and water. They are still a normal descendant, and will still require to eat and drink eventually or else they die of starvation or dehydration.

Mechanical Lens:

The user will be granted a small layer of glass on top of their eyes. This allows the user to be able to see in the night with perfect vision.

➢ The user will be granted the ability to see during the night with clear visibility. It is simply night vision, and can be used whenever.

➢ If the user loses their eye(s), and regrow it using other means, they will lose this part of the ability as their eyes will no longer have the mechanical lens. There is no way to get this back outside of events if even possible after it is done.

Brain Surgery:

The user will have their brain modified with small plates suspended around their skull, and in a delicate process, a small automaton-chip planted in one part of their cortex. With this, the user will have modified brain memory, be granted knowledge on smogger-technology, and also be provided with a faster-working brain.

➢ The user will be granted knowledge on the feat: smoggers (i.e. they will be given the smoggers feat).

➢ Unlike the general smogger redlines, that allows one to build a smogger in 2 weeks. This CArt grants the user to complete the process of building a smogger in 1 week, or 3 days with the support of another tinkerer.

➢ The user will be able to remember and recall information vividly and clearly within a certain timeframe. However, this does not circumvent any death rules, nor can this be used in order to metagame (i.e. you cannot go check your chat logs from years ago to remember something. It should be done in good faith and abuse of this can lead to a lore infraction or blacklist from future events pertaining to this CArt. A general rule of thumb is to keep it within a 1-2 OOC month timeframe if it is something very nitpicky that you would not generally remember).

➢ The user is able to complete short-term memory tasks easier. For example, the user can flip through a whole book within minutes and read through it all. (this is more flare related and cannot be used to metagame or conduct anything bad faith).

Heat Resistance:

The user will be granted a singular tube from their elbow that removes excess body-heat through some advanced auto-technology that cannot be explained or described without breaking the general conventions of universal automaton craftsmanship, most likely a feat only accomplishable by the patrons of Garumdir, and the Daemon himself. The user will have resistance to a certain threshold of heat, but not complete immunity.

➢ This will allow the user to withhold extremely hot temperature, i.e. they will not become exhausted in deserts, in hellish landscapes, and so on. However, this does not grant them flame resistance at all, nor does this provide any benefit in combat. It should be purely used for event purposes and roleplay flare when in an extremely hot area. For example, in this case, it is supposed to accommodate the eventline.

➢ This cannot be used in combat to garner an edge on anyone. Flames will still burn them at the same rate. It is only an environmental survivalist ability.

➢ This is only for heat. The user will still feel as any normal descendant does in the cold, as this heat-resistance surgery was not made in recognition of any colder environments, as per the eventline.

Termination:

The user will be granted a forceful instinct through their surgery that reacts to any open and visible inferi in sight. It will cause the eyes of the user to flash red, and their mouth to utter in a similar voice box found in automatons, and the user becoming forcefully aggressive towards said inferi with the pure intent to slaughter them. This will circumvent their desire to help the inferi in question even if they are friends.

Emote Example: At the sight of the inferi, the users mouth opens. "TERMINATION IN PROCESS: CLASS-I: INFERI," utters the human-knight in an odd, invariable voice, before violently unsheathing his longsword. Red, bulbous lights flicker behind the helm covering his face, as his eyes scan the large and grotesque inferi that spewed malflame from its maw-like ribcage. Eventually, the voice of the human-knight returns to normal, as he starts making way towards the inferi, feeling this uncanny, forced instinct, to slaughter all demonsblood in sight. "Come over here, scoundrel!"

➢ This cannot be used to metagame any veiled inferi. This will only be something that must be roleplayed if there is someone who is openly an inferi (this does not count towards naztherak users who are generally descendants with grimoires. It only applies to inferi). Generally, the user will know if it is an inferi by attributes that match them: malflame, size, skin, horns, and so on.

➢ Inferi that have a more human-appearance, similar to nephilim, may be harder to identify, so this redline could be avoided so as to not metagame. For example, if an inferi looks much akin to an Azdrazi (for some reason), then this does not apply. Of course, if said inferi starts using malflame, it can then kick in the termination-effect.

➢ The user will have a visible tell during this process, which is usually their eyes flashing red numerous times, and their mouths being forced to speak a termination message much akin to the regular automaton.

➢ This cannot be circumvented with any magic or sorcery capable of manipulating the mind. The desire to kill said inferi will last until the inferi in question is no longer in view (this includes hiding behind a wall), if the inferi in question is killed, or if the inferi in question flees and is unable to be caught by the user. The moment the inferi has left, the user returns to normal.

➢ The user will have no desire to harm any people or persons attempting to defend the inferi (unless if the people or persons attempting to defend the inferi are inferi themselves). Of course, it is up to the user to use their rationale and free-thought in whether or not they wish to also kill the person or thing defending the inferi.

➢ The user still has free thought to speak and do as they desire after the termination message, but if the inferi is present, they must attempt to terminate them unless if unreasonable to do so (common sense approach).

➢ It is understandable that this termination effect forces an attribute onto a player, but this is simply considered a consequence to events.

Purpose:

Experiment-XI has been created to be provided as both a reward or potential consequence to the eventline currently ongoing. It provides numerous flare effects, on top of certain benefits and detriments, that simply coincide with the eventline and its current usage in the realm. I have attempted to write it in a way that it keeps in line with all current techlock, whilst also providing a conventional mean of innovation that is not absurd or out of the scope of the LoTC genre (mainly by reading smogger and animii lore), and consultation from ET management and ST administration.
