The Academic Barony of Caledonia

Our Mission

Founded by the Lurinite knight Conor Tsecsar, Caledonia was initially a vassal state created for a different purpose than it fulfils today. However, with the disappearance of this noble knight, the vassal was instead passed down to the adoptive son of the then Lubba, one Narithen Uialben.

 

Together with his wife Karuna Amal, the newly titled Baron began the process of reforming said barony, transforming the previously voidally focused construction instead into a state designed for the purpose of education and civility, forming Caledonia Academy.

 

The dream of both was to create a place of learning of all kinds. Magical and mundane, for any and every subject of interest to anyone wishing to learn or anyone wishing to teach. A realm in which people are given the freedom to better themselves as they see fit, with no limit upon this. 

Structure

The structure of Caledonia stems from that which had been built before the new ruling, with the centre academy and the northern side keeping the aesthetics of white walls and officious buildings in the Lurinite style established by the former leader of the vassal as a form of homage. Granted, whilst this was kept, much greenery was adorned across it so as to represent the more druidic leanings of the new owners. 

 

 Apart from various new classrooms and workshops the whole of the southside of Caledonia is dedicated towards providing luxurious houses, with each quarter representing a school house of the academy: Ceru Chirr, Ibar Maehr, Lle Vuln, and Taynuel Athri. Next to the housing provided in both halves of Caledonia, a series of newer underground residences has recently been developed, for those who favour smaller, cheaper, and more secluded accommodation. 

 

Culture

Being a completely new vassal state composed entirely of an already multicultural nation, Caledonia has very little established culture to it. What is there is a prioritisation of the act of learning, and a respect for those that bring knowledge to the titular academy.  Those who teach will find themselves friends and staunch allies within the academy’s walls, and those who come wishing to learn will in turn find themselves protected for the duration of their stay.
 

Government

The Barony of Caledonia works on a council system with each council member dedicated onwards a specific duty and overseeing their own part of the barony; ensuring sure the Barony runs smoothly and that the workload is evenly shared.

 

Additionally, as befitting its status as a vassal state with close ties to its overlord, leaders of the Lurinite realm itself are similarly afforded comparable rights within Caledonia’s walls.

Military

As per the terms of its creation, Caledonia has no standing military forces beyond the capabilities of those residents who wish to defend it. However, with that being said, the vassal does still offer training on how to combat any enemy one can think of, boasting experienced teachers in all forms.
