XIOMARAS DIARY ENTRY #4

Dear diary,

 

The last time I wrote to you, I talked about what kind of coronation I would want but I didn't want one so soon. My Madre is dead, poisoned. Ironic, when my recent studies taught me about silver. It turns a different color when touching poison. Could that have helped my Madre?

 

Her death led to a massacre. The people call it the Blue Night massacre. There was so much blood everywhere and screaming. I'd prayed with my sisters, locked away in the Bastian until we couldn't take anymore and so we escaped.

 

I learned one thing that day, careful who you trust.

 

It wasn't many days later when Abuela followed my Madre to death. I think it was heartbreak, she loved her kids so, so much.

 

I put on a crown for the first time, and it weighed heavily. My neck groaned, but I had to keep silent. I stared out as people began to file in for court, all staring towards me, wanting to know what is next.

 

And so I held court and then the funerals came, and I watched as my Madre and Abuela burned. What words were there to say?

 

I could only pray.

 

Madre, I miss you.

Abuela, I miss you.

Noone else leave me, please, oh, please.

 

But that wasn't meant to be.
