THE ABDICATION OF VELEN

Issued by the Margrave of Velen, Count of Cantal, Viscount of the Aschenwald, etc
ANNO DOMINI 1986

It has been fifty one years since the passing of my mother and my inheritance that soon followed. I have worked diligently to ensure that Velen and the Aschenwald prosper, but I have grown old and cannot work as I used to. It is time I step down from my position as Margrave and pass it unto one more capable than I.

I believe that my son and heir, Leufroy Otto, the Count of Revedin, is more than ready to inherit the mantle of Margrave of Velen and lead the House of Reuss. Once this missive is published, my son shall hold all my titles. Let this publication be known as the official announcement of my abdication.

His Lordship, Siegmund I RKTVOOBE ROKSG, Margrave of Velen, Count of Cantal, Viscount of the Aschenwald, Baron Mons Velena, Alsace, and the Arentania, Lord of Kostritz, Patriarch of the House von Reuss, Elector of Velen, Protector of the Aschenwald peoples.

Leufroy I, Margrave of Velen, received news of this via the missive just like the entire realm. He did of course know his father planned this, but still no date was set and so he found out he was now the Margrave of Velen suddenly. Nonetheless, he did not fear his newfound position, he instead embraced it and felt rather prepared at last to take hold of his family, his home, everything.

Marlene, the Margrave-Emeritus's wife, hummed a merry tune and retired to her embroidery and owls happily awaiting her first grandchild!
