Steward Fraud

A Dignified Letter from Robert Tiberius Alstion

TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE REALM AND BEYOND,

In my venture to our beloved Royal Bank, home to our kingdom’s wealth, I spoke with a bank teller in regards to the financial affairs of our kingdom. The usually bustling bank had become mostly destitute with the exception of a handful of nobles who kept trust in the institution even after the transformation of Whitespire into Blackspire. As a prince of the realm, my presence opens doorways not available to ordinary folk. Upon further enquiry into our kingdom’s funds to discuss our future development, he had informed me that our realm’s treasury had been plagued by a sudden impropriety years past that had been left unpunished.

Our treasury, once bountiful and flowing with a mixture of currencies both domestic and foreign, had found itself what was now in hindsight a plundering. Before the regency, trusted stewards of the kingdom, with large sacks from their wagon, came to the bank with the claimed intent to safeguard currency. Caught off-guard but unwilling to stop them, the bankers noted that the stewards had run away with an amount totalling thousands. Now, as Blackspire lies in ruin and our lands are in need of maintenance, we find that even as the years have passed the money has not been returned. This plundering from our officials has put at risk the livelihoods of our kingdom’s inhabitants and the safety of our kingdom. Nobility, gentry, and the common man alike. This is completely unacceptable.

As these funds have not yet been recovered, I implore anyone with more information on the currency to write a letter to myself and/or to Cardinal Clover of the Canonist Church. Further, I implore anyone with more information regarding these wrongdoers to write to myself and/or to His Holiness, Fleeper I. I will not allow all of our subjects to suffer due to embezzlement.

"Why do I keep seeing fat Aaunite nobles in these missives! Can't they keep their fat faces out of their missive at least? Why does their faces have to be THIS detailed?! Actually, /how/ are they so fat when their own country is burned to the ground? The brigade of marna is a ratden of..."

... A mali'fenn alchemist would keep on complaining as she saw the missive before promptly burning the copy she saw and returning to her laboratory.
