With the recent declaration of war against the Shiredom of Dunfarthing, the Sovereignty of Vortice finds itself unable to stand idle as our allies are attacked. Our two realms have long stood in the Lowlands as friends in diplomacy and sovereignty, and as any good friend should, the Sovereigns of Vortice hereby declare its intent to join the war in defense of the Halflings.

Our reasons for joining this war are simple. We shall speak simply as a result. The Rexkhanate of Lurak is attempting to invade and threaten its neighbors on shaky claims that ultimately serve as weak excuses for conquest. They claimed it was justice in Vikela, and they claimed it was justice now. But the murders, maiming, and kidnapping of children, accusing them of crimes they cannot possibly commit by the laws that govern this plane, cannot be justice. It is evil, and there is no belief system other than the foulest and most dangerous kind that can ever justify such actions, as it is also clear that the orcs have diverted from their sense of honor by involving children in this war.

We of the Unified Domain of Vortice declare our defense to the halflings of the Shiredom of Dunfarthing. To Honor our promise of defense against the weefolk in decades past. As well as to ensure peace once more returns to the eastern region of Aevos.

In Regards to the darkspawn Halflings claims

 

It has come to our attention that one of the Khan’s reasons (of very few there are) is that they claimed that darkspawn runs rampant within the borders, housed by the halflings. To this, we offer to dispatch our best warriors, shamans, and alchemists to investigate if such rumors are indeed true, and we offer to purify the lands from any corruption that such left behind (If any were there in the first place). The halflings within leadership shall also go under tests by our shamans to see if any are indeed worshipers of Iblees or the undead. As such corruption does not have a place within the weefolk or any nation, it is in the best interests of all parties to investigate such claims with unity and mutual respect. Alas, the maiming, kidnapping, and killing of halfling children serves no one, not even the population of Lurak other than for taking sick satisfaction of causing pain to the halflings. As pointed out by the halflings themselves, their choice of point to attack shows clearly that the intention is not to wipe out darkspawn from the area they claim is infested, but rather to put themselves into a position to threaten the neighbors of the halflings, including the Silver State of Lurin, and ourselves respectively. And as pointed out by the Grand Duchy of Silasia, who are allies and friends of ours as well, the trek of the army of the aggressors threatens to spread an already horrific plague from Silasia to its neighbors, threatening a widespread pandemic in Eastern Aevos. In summary, regardless of beliefs regarding the halflings, or the veracity of the claims of darkspawn residing in their borders, the Rexdom of Lurak has shown through their actions that they serve only their interests, and that their warpath presents a clear and present danger to not only the Shiredom of Dunfarthing, but all of Eastern Aevos. To all nations in the region, who regardless of your relationships with one another, desire safety and peace, we implore you, do not side with the aggressors who threaten to spread sickness to our peoples, spill children’s blood, and instigate war after war after war for a justification that does not and has not held up in the face of scrutiny. We do not fight for simply the halflings but for all of those residing in the East, whether they are Druid, Mage, Canonist, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Kha, Halfling, or Human. For all our differences, we have one thing in common, this is our home, and we can either come together to keep it safe or face the consequences of disunity.
