ARTICLE IV: Duration This treaty shall remain in effect for twenty saint weeks from the signing of this document, and will be reinstated with the approval of the signatories. If so, we may have land for you! We, the people of Vortice, are looking to help small communities find a place that suits their needs, whether big or small. We want each community to feel safe and comfortable where they reside, and thus, we offer land to those who are interested in low tax rates. How do you apply? First, you’ll contact one of four individuals. That being Lenora Jusmia @Bethinwonderland, Gusiam Jusmia @PrinceJose270, Aerith Malestorm @bravery, and or John O’Riley @johnnydeath6. You’ll give us a summary of the group you’d be requesting land for. We will set up a time to meet those within your community, hear you out, and go from there! THE EMERALD ACCORD As agreed upon on the 12th of The Amber Cold, Year 170 of the Second Age Between the Unified Domain of Vortice and the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun With the signing and promulgation of this document, the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun and the Unified Domain of Vortice, henceforth referred to as ‘the signatories‘, do agree on their honour to the terms laid forth hereafter. Article I: Sovereignty I. The signatories hereby concur to acknowledge the autonomy and sovereign status of each of their respective realms. Article II: Non-Aggression I. The signatories hereby pledge to refrain from engaging in any acts of aggression or military hostilities against one another in any manner. II. The signatories pledge that citizens of either party shall refrain from accepting military commissions or engaging in mercenary employment from any state with which the other party is involved within a state of war. III. In addition, this commitment encompasses the preservation of the right to unrestricted movement of their respective citizens between the signatory nations. IV. The signatories pledge that citizens from either realm are protected while in their respective territories so long as they act within the laws of the respective realms. Article III: Extradition I. The signatories hereby consent to a reciprocal extradition provision, whereby a citizen of either nation, provided there is justifiable cause for their arrest, may be apprehended and subsequently transferred to the jurisdiction of the courts in the territory where their alleged crime transpired. II. In such instances, an Extradition Request must be formally submitted by the judicial authorities of the first party's state to the Monarch or Sovereign of the second party for approval. III. Legal representation for the defendant may be provided by the judicial representatives of the nation from which the citizen or subject originates. Article IV: Diplomatic Exchange I. The signatories collectively affirm the principle of diplomatic exchange between their respective governments, aimed at fostering dialogue and mutual understanding. In accordance with this, the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun shall dispatch a temporary envoy to the Unified Domain of Vortice, and reciprocally, the other party stands ready to attend diplomatic meetings at the behest of His Royal Majesty's Government. II. The signatories jointly endorse the principle of diplomatic freedom, emphasizing the inviolability and immutability thereof. This entails that envoys and government messengers shall enjoy unrestricted movement within the territory of each party. Furthermore, they shall not be subject to prosecution by local or national authorities for any civil or criminal proceedings unless their home country explicitly waives their entitlement to such immunity. III. The signatories retain the prerogative to formally expel a diplomat whose actions are deemed to have substantially undermined the national integrity and order of either party's realm. Article V: Trade I. The signatories, wishing to promote free trade amongst one another and their people, shall allow the respective national Trading Companies of either signatory to own a tax-free stall within each other's Capitals, provided they commit to the maintenance thereof by ensuring it is always properly stocked. II. The signatories further agree that when a Vortician mining network has been established along the eastern coast of the Langkette Range north of the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun, where evidence of veins of valuable emeralds has been found, the Royal Aaunic Government be allowed unlimited access thereto. Article VI: Duration I. The duration of this pact shall be held for fifteen years. During the tail end of the duration, a meeting shall be scheduled to determine whether both parties wish to renew or extend the existing treaty.   4. The Kraken's Festival For many years upon the arrival of Aevos, the eastern sea has been kind to the denizens of the Unified Domain of Vortice. Not just by having wondrous sights, but also by offering a plethora of unique fish and corals within its waters. As such, the council of Vortice would like to extend a hand to the realms of Aevos for a celebration of the bounties found within the sea in our Kraken’s Festival of the Eastern Sea and also invite those in attendance to join in on some festive events for a potential prize. The events for the festival will be listed below for those interested in taking part. [Art by arvalis] The Lucky Fisherman! Contestants shall have fifteen ashen minutes to collect as many fish as possible, with rarer fish equaling more points. Fishermen are allowed to bring in their own skinning knives and fishing rods- HOWEVER, fishermen bags will not be permitted to avoid the potential for cheating. Whoever earns the most points by the end of the time frame will walk home with a prize of 250 mina and the temporary title of “Vortice’s Luckiest Fisherman!” Should the winner wish to keep their title, they will have to compete the next time this is held. [Art by loafers777] Lighthouse Race: Participants for the race shall find themselves racing around Vortice’s lighthouse through a series of laps to see whose sailing skills are superior. Sabotage is allowed and encouraged, with the allowance of tipping another’s boat in order to get ahead. The goal is to finish the laps in first place, and whoever reaches that goal will receive a prize of 50 mina, as well as the temporary title of “The Sea Snake.” Should the winner wish to keep their title, they will have to compete the next time this is held. CONCORD OF THE COOL COMPANIONS Issued at Year 133 of the Second Age Renewed at the Year 165 of the Second Age As some of the smaller coastal settlements of the east, it has been found beneficial to support each other in every way which we can as possible both economically and militarily in case a threat in the east rises. May this pact give the east security and prosperity for our realms in our home continent of Aevos. ARTICLE I: SOVEREIGNTY I. The Most Serene State of Lurin recognizes The Shiredom of Dúnwen and The Unified Domain of Vortice their sovereignty and autonomy. II. The Unified Domain of Vortice recognizes The Most Serene State of Lurin and The Shiredom of Dúnwen their sovereignty and autonomy. III. All signatories agree to repair the alternative, ruined road through Dúnwen as well as build new bridges to connect Lurin and Vortice. ARTICLE VI: DEFENSE I. All signatories will aid each other when declared war upon. II. All signatories will aid each other when their sovereignty is at risk. III. All signatories will provide such aid through soldiers, wealth, industry, and resources. ARTICLE VII: CULTURAL EXCHANGE I. All signatories agree to improve the relationships between the nations by holding cultural events. II. These events will be held every two elven weeks. III. Each of the signatories will have the chance to choose what their event is so long as it’s representative of their culture. IV. These events will be held in a rotatory system, starting with the Most Serene State of Lurin, then the Unified Domain of Vortice, and finally the Shiredom of Dúnwen. ARTICLE VIII: DURATION I. All signatories agree to uphold this pact till all find it necessary to part ways. II. This pact may only be dissolved if all signatories agree. III.   16. The elf woke up and turned to look at the calendar, it’s roughly his 100th year on this earth… “Has it really been that long?”He didn't know his real birthday other than he had one. He stretched, soon standing to his full height of 6’1. Moving outside of his cramped space he called his nest. He grabbed his bag, and headed out the door. Moving to the nearby spring he washed his face. Walking the streets of Vortice he made his way to the shop. Lighting the lanterns on the top floor near his flowers, the makeshift alchemy lab. Opening a book, at least 80 years old at this point. His eyes started to shift over the pages. He never believed in god as the man who gave him the book did… Flash powder. “No” Will’o bottle “Already have those” Tanglefoot “Just made that last dragon's day… might not be ready in time if I make another batch…” he carried on looking. No reason to hand off the bag to the young lad,just felt like it. Among the crowds of people he saw a face he recognized. Jarad Munnel, seeing the man without a mount. He was invited onto Luther’s set. Each group made their way over to their wagon. He didn’t pay too much attention to who was at first. His one goal was to keep the cart safe. He was stationed at the left flake of the wagon. Once they started to walk he went to load his crossbow. Jarad, seeing this, offered to take the reins. He allowed such, loading the crossbow. Walking along the road… an arrow head was in the dirt path.. Then another. Not even a breath later arrows rained down on them as Streaks of lightning. A violent scourge of red, black and green light intertwined in the daybreak.. “Shit! It’s an ambush!” he shouted to those around them, as if they couldn’t see with their own eyes. Skeletal archers were lying in wait. They didn’t want the cart to get to the canyon. Some of their horses had been shot down. Thankfully Jarad was able to maneuver Luther in a way to where he didn’t get hit. It also helped that they had the waggon for cover but for how much longer only time could tell. Some of the now dead horses laid onto their riders. They pushed on, the men and women off and some still on their horses started to charge at the undead. Slashing them down where they stood. Unknowing what was going on. The cart was still being pulled. Veluc, paired with Dele Seregon as a defender. Luther with his two riders kept close to the cart. “Keep with the cart!” Luther’s rider called. Auriel “Speed is essential! Quick! QUICK!” The sounds of battle rang out on the path. Adri and Fritjof moved to take down some of the archers, Dele dashed forwards to get the one laying it waiting behind a cactus! Dazen Zantiln crept closer to the tower, knocking an arrow onto his bowstring to prepare himself for a shot. Auro'ra Castington saunters off to stand a little ways behind Dazen, unpigmented mist steaming from their shoulders before coiling around her arms' helix structure - clumping into a sphere in the center of her palm. Naerys Athri'onn and the other rider leap from their horse before they too fell victim to the pitfall trap. Well played indeed. Some of the undead archers reloaded their bows as a fatal mistake was about to be made. Two undead archers were hidden behind a sand dune. Luther was hit in the chest, sending both riders tumbling forwards. Followed the sound of breaking glass. The will’o bottles that he had in his bag broke. Yet somehow didn’t activate, saved by some cosmic being once again. Perhaps they found him still entertaining? Didn’t matter, his horse and longtime companion was hit, dying. Being used for cover by Jarad as other horses and riders started to fall into spike traps “You good?” he called back, running after the cart still being pulled by the escort as he started to run after it, but didn’t hear if he got a response back. They had to keep the cart safe. Jarad exhaled once to steady his aim as a flash of light appeared at the end of his magegold rod, firing out three speedy air projectiles at the two skeletons whooshing through the air as they traveled towards the archers. Jarad turned a poor skeleton into a pincushion, the undead falling over after having been shot with the gat. This caused Auriel's swing to miss however, The momentum of the blow carried straight into the side of their horse's head, knocking the bridle out along with some teeth and causing the horse to buck their rider off, not dead, but panicked and running. . A guttural horn would sound in the distance however over the sounds of battle. Followed by a guttural draconic call echoes from the front of the city, warped by undeath. As the waggon got closer to the canyon, the figures marching from the canyon could be seen clearly even in the night now. The long dead from almaris' past wars come alive again, an elysian shield wall followed up by uruk berserkers, Alongside the elysians in the shield wall former orenian imperial soldiers and harvest confederacy ones mixed in. A last stand guarding the canyon. The cart came to a halt. “Damn it!” Veluc stopped at the sight of the defense in front of the canyon, holding onto his axe in the road. He lowered a free hand to his belt and produced a bottle of grey goop. “TO HELL WITH THEM ALL!” Dele bellowed and at once, set upon the archer, going to spear it in a furious strike aimed to destroy it! Auro'ra Castington furrows her brows whilst the aura sphere within her hold erupts into flame for the second time, she retracts her hand before pushing it forwards - the mound of flame aiming for the undead atop the tower. “ELYSIANS! THE ONES THAT I AND A MENTALLY INSANE PERSON KILLED FIVE OF WITH NOTHING BUT DAGGERS! ORENIANS WHO FELL BY THE DOZEN! ONWARDS! DON'T FEAR THE WEAK!” Kosher Daesmon raise his aurum sword, as he yelled. Jarad smiled at the work on his magic-powered air gun before putting it away and taking out his glowing spear and his medical kit, bending over the still somehow alive horse , wrapping some cloth around the arrow wound, applying frost vine. Stabilizing it for now, deciding to return later in order to treat it properly, running forward in order to catch up to the cart. “Wonder if the undead could only find almaris's worst fighters, the wall will be easy to break.” The elf climbed onto the cart taking up a post with his crossbow. Vicious explosions litter from the canyons, parts of the sludge slowly being burned away as the other descendants move to finish the job. Kosher Daesmon takes out a bottle as he stands his ground “HOLD THE LINE! DO NOT LET THEM TAKE THE CART!” He would circle his horse, attempting to rally as many as possible. “KILL THEM ALL! LEAVE NO DEAD UNQUARTERED AND SLAIN!” Dele once again bellowed, moving to keep up with Kosher, producing a particular vial from her hip. Jarad running up to the cart spear in hand shouted “Hold the line, Send the undead scum back to their graves!” “Anyone want a fireball?” The elf shouted moving to take aim at the line of undead making their way over. Auriel drew forth her dark blade, anointed in auric oil. The handle of the blade held a spike, letting her douse it in blood. It alit, shedding a chainsawing buzz of lighting and rusted gleam. Onto the back of Veluc's horse, she rode. Veluc moved the cart forward just slightly before he lowered himself from the seat. Still holding the poleaxe in one hand, in the other he shook about the bottle of tanglefoot. “Get ready, everyone!” Others soon started to join in, coming from the dirt path behind the waggon. Pillars of smoke bellow from the city behind them. cloud of smog, to all those that looked at the city… The line of soldiers from wars passed seemed steady, advancing ever onward towards the cart and defenders. Seemingly more toughened through necromantic means. It would likely take a massive force to wheel through the oncoming horde. Those who had potions out started to shake them, activate them. Kosher waved his sword “HOLD!” Jarad ran closer to the cart “Rally on the wagon, we can push through this together” he would yell to the reg-tag group of soldiers. With not much else to do, the elf that was once on top of the cart jumped down. Tapping the blue gem on his gauntlet. Those who then tossed their positions slowed down the undead. Some fell short however. “GET THAT CART IN THE CANYON, YE DUNG-BAGGING GOATHOLES!” Auriel gave excellent advice, shrieking over the buzzing whine of her sawing blade. Veluc joined them back at the cart everyone near started to push it as others just now joining the battle started to run past them… The waggon started to roll. The elf lifted up his gauntlet, the blue gem a glow. “Kin now!!” Jarad yelled “Move out of the way!” Kin, the elf shouted as a fireball the size of a beach ball shot out, lighting the cart up in a big blaze. Anyone unfortunate enough to be caught near the cart as it rolled down the hill into the canyon would suffer from 2-3 degree burns. Those who had run past the cart. Soon I started to retreat! Some dragging the still alive horse. The cart, now flaming, would quickly hurl down the hillside towards the cavern, running over undead and likely descendants alike if they were anywhere in its path. The cart would hurl down with a loud this into the heart of the hoard. As the cart smashed into the canyon however, a sizzle would be heard and a tense moment would pass without change. Until it did. The skies seem to dust the city of Balian with plumes of ash that dig within the crevices of the city. The air seems dry, an omen of something to come. Then from the sands, the horrific beast is shown to surge through the sands. The feller of Cloudbreaker, in full force those still around started to rush back to the city, be it on horseback or foot. Screams could be heard from the crowds….“ABANDON THE CITY.” and so they did. Filing out of the burning city. Off to a nearby keep where those hurt during the battle could be treated. Kin finding one of his new found friends among the hurt. After getting his friend treatment he took him back to Vortice.

  19. In the dead of the night, a hooded figure snuck into numerous buildings in the Vortice capital city of Talon's Port... Nothing was taken, however some choice homes would find notes placed atop spots where the council members would have no choice but to see. Once this task was finished, the hooded figure made their way to the top of the Alley Alehouse, not bothering to lock the doors of the rooftop. The figure sat upon the wedding stage, sighing and dropping their cloak, revealing a de-crowned Vivian Maelstorm, her face reddened and puffy, running mascara covering her cheeks as she withdrew a moonsteel dagger from her waist-sheathe. “....Syl always told me that elves would last hundreds of years before devolving into madness… well, I guess that wasn’t the case with me, huh?” The short ‘aheral chuckled dryly, her free hand lofting to remove a final note from her bosom. “...Maybe one day, everybody can forgive me.” Another tear fell from her real eye as she set the note gently against the ground, away from where she had planned to die. As she did such, a tinge of hurt shot through her core. The woman had lost so many in such a short amount of time… how selfish was she, to take her life at this, when so many others had suffered so much more! Her sisters, Athri, Lenora, and Sana, and the love they shared… Her brothers, Gail, Ren and James, and the laughs they had... her best friend, Eugeo, and the secrets they had kept together… her many children, two in particular stuck out in her memory- they were only thirty four, how could they live with the loss of their mother? Mystralath and Belladonna were both old enough that they would remember Vivian forever more- unlike Fable, Claude and Aer, who were still mere babes and had hardly spent any time with Vivian. The red-headed monarch sobbed again as she raised the dagger, staring up to the sky in emotional agony… before plunging the blade into her chest, taking the moonsteel directly to the heart. After a few seconds, the elfess slumped down, the colour draining from her once purple eye as tears fell, her hands dropping from the hilt of the blade and down to her lap as she fell to her side, dead. Inside the note, when she were to be found, was a single paragraph, reading as follows. “To my people, to my family, to my friends… I have loved you all so dearly, but it is my time to depart now. I bid thee farewell and I hope to meet you all again in another time. You are all so important in your own ways. As of the Deep Cold of the 35th year, I wish for Athri Onfroi Belrose-Maelstorm to carry on the Monarchy of the Unified Domain of Vortice on my behalf, and to be crowned as the Heir Monarch by the Congress.   20. THE STATE ARMY OF VORTICE The State Army of Vortice is now recruiting! All positions are to be paid, so long as the time actively on duty is known. There has been restructuring to the military, to give it a much more simple feel, and more of a chance to genuinely allow for citizens and recruits room for growth as they progress through the ranks. Starting from recruit, you make your way up through hours, work, and determination, hopefully attaining the rank of guardsman after a year of service to the Unified Domain. From then, after two more years of service, you could rise to the status of a sergeant, able to train recruits and help your captain out with less daunting tasks. After three years of service as a sergeant, you could then rise even further, gaining the title of captain- the highest rank that can be given to Vortice’s guardforce! And, who knows? After years of work as a guard captain, you, a member of the State Army of Vortice, could rise to the call of knighthood, joining the Order of the Hawk, on the account of valor, bravery, and courage, if the Congress of Vortice see fit, getting a chance to grow even higher in rankings. Think you could take it? Serving over eight years in the Order, you could rise up to become a Knight-Sergeant, giving orders to other knights within the order and even taking on the responsibilities of a sergeant or captain in the military in the event they may be absent from their post. Knights may take 1 squire and 2 pages under their wing, to teach them about chivalry, kindness, honor and valor. The pay of a new recruit starts at ten mina’s per year, rising by five with each promotion. If deemed worthy, pay may be raised without a promotion, then raised at a normal rate if a promotion were to be given. The only requirements to join are to be at least seventeen years of age. Race, gender, orientation, and social status are all disregarded. If you do not know how to fight, training will be given to all without discrimination. If you know how to fight? Perfect!   21. The Domain of Vortice The Sovereign State of Talon’s Port is one that has stood the test of time. Finding its beginnings as a mere settlement, Talon’s Port, formerly known at Talon’s Grotto, has seen many changes throughout its existence. As our city and people grow and expand, we deem it fit that we allow our title to match that of our national standing. Henceforth, The previously stated Sovereign State of Talon’s Port shall formally be known as The Unified Domain of Vortice. And thus, with the changing of a people led by the people, so too must the positions of office be redefined. Known forth, the following titles of commission shall hold these respective duties: [Monarch] The quintessential leader of Vortice, otherwise known as the Keeper of the Depths, is tasked with the ultimate decisions for the well-being of Vortice and her people. Thus being said, this and every other title is androgenous, and blind to race. [Commissioner of Defense] The primary leader of the Military, dictating the militant forces within Vortice and ensuring the safety of the citizenry. They have the highest advisory on combative conflict, and are the right hand of the Monarch. [Commissioner of Justice] The judge of the courts and reviewer of laws. Those within the Ministry of Justice are in charge of writing, reviewing, and applying the law within a court setting, or advising the council on law-related matters. [Commissioner of Health] The overseer of health and safety. Deemed the scholarly head of the clinic, this position is highly coveted for medical expertise and diligence in seeing to the welfare of the people. [Commissioner of Science] The primary conductor of scientific research and experimentation, the Commissioner of Science’s position varies with whatever subject may come or pass. The duties of such often come in close correlation with the Ministry of Magery. [Commissioner of Magery] Overseeing of all that is arcane, abnormal, or otherwise magical within the Domain, the Commissioner of Magery is responsible for applications and distribution of magic licenses. Working closely with the Ministry of Science, their duties oft concern that of experimentation. [Commissioner of Wealth] Holder of coin and seer of financial prosperity within the nation. The Commissioner of Wealth as well as their stewardry are responsible for distribution of pay, collection of taxes, and the purchase of housing. [Commissioner of Internal Affairs] The Commissioner of Internal Affairs is the internal eye of the Nation, taking concerns from the citizens and voicing them before the council. They are in charge of the well being of all those within Vortice, and contain the Event Committee, responsible for holding festivals and other celebrations. [Commissioner of Foreign Affairs] The Commissioner of Foreign Affairs is the public face of Vortice, working to ensure stable relations with other nations and settlements. They work closely with the Ministry of Defence as well as the Monarch to provide a suitable political climate.
