THE MILITARY STRUCTURE OF THE CERULITE MARCH

We have been bestowed land by our ever benevolent Royarch, while we pay taxes through monetary means, we wish to further aid our Royarch with additional soldiers to use in times of conflict. Our title of march should not be an empty promise to the nation we reside under.

PURPOSE OF OUR MILITARY

We exist to serve the Grand King and their nation and defend our granted lands in the name of the Grand King of Urguan and the Marq of Cerulia. 

 

Like kin we will aid our Grand King in need and hold off enemies of the state from occupying territories within the greater Urguani lands.

GENERAL STRUCTURE

Our military is divided into four divisions:

 
Garrison - To Defend Cerulia And Protect Our People.
Levy - To Aid Our Royarch And Participate In Campaigns.
Arcane - To Aid All Divisions And Provide Advantage.
Constructs - To Bolster As Elites And Unyielding Soldiers.

 

With each division serving their own purpose to aid in our greater goal.

 

Each Division has their own officer underneath The Marshal of Cerulia who answers directly to The Marq of Cerulia and the Grand Marshal. Each division has a simple yet effective structure:

 

Marshal - Leader Of The Cerulite Military.

Officer - Leader Of A Military Division.

Trained Folk - Soldier Of A Military Division.

Recruit - Fresh Recruits of A Military Division.

 

With each of these ranks carrying their own names in their division and are provided a uniform by The March of Cerulia coloring Cerulean Blue and a uniform that is Urguani orange during times of conflict.

STRUCTURE AND DUTY OF THE GARRISON

While our walls are more than capable of keeping the regular folks out, during a serious threat, these walls need to be manned with capable and trained folks who can keep the more well equipped folk out of our holdings. These folks who man our defenses are our garrisoned soldiers, recruits and folks from the Arcane Division who aid us.

 

The Garrison Division is tasked as primary defense, manning the walls, gates and maintaining order within our walls as guards of Cerulia. A Garrisoned Soldier is able to make arrests, fine and is permitted to execute if deemed necessary, where a folk breaks a law, they will be found, caught and brought to justice according to the laws of the land.

 

The Garrison Division will be equipped and trained properly to deal with the various threats that come around, including a course on how to operate siege engines such as cannons, trebuchets or ballistae.

 

The Garrison Officer is tasked with recruitment of new Garrison Recruits, training, promotions within and organizing this force. They are expected to be capable and dutiful when doing their tasks to become a symbol to stand behind so others of the Garrison Division may follow their orders without a shred of doubt in their minds.

STRUCTURE AND DUTY OF THE LEVY

With our homes defended by The Garrison Division, our roads, allies and overlord aren’t aided by them, that is the task of The Levy Division, who are sent out on external campaigns to deal with threats, bandits or campaigns ordered by the Grand King of Urguan.

 

These folks will be equipped and trained properly to deal with these external threats and come prepared in the campaigns Cerulia is called for aid. The Levy Division is comparable to a standing army in other nations, except the Folks in this division are expected to manage themselves when not needed to be on duty. They hold no internal authority like The Garrison Division does, only called for training, fights, patrols and campaigns, though they may naturally be called upon when there are no Garrisoned Soldiers around.

 

Everyone within the Levy Division starts out as a Levy as the name suggests, often called upon from the citizenry or those who willingly wish to join a battle. Once these folks of the Levy are deemed capable, they may be promoted by the Levy Officer to become a Man-At-Arms, where they become a more permanent part of The Cerulite Army and receive further training, equipment and tactics.

The Levy Officer is tasked to manage all of the Levy division and answers the call of the Marshal of Cerulia, ensuring that all folks within the Levy Division are ready and capable for incoming conflict at a moments notice. The Levy Officer is also tasked with recruitment, promotions, organizing training, and presenting themselves as a symbol to stand behind.

STRUCTURE AND DUTY OF THE ARCANE

With a sizable population of mages within our walls, it cannot be denied that this manpower would go to waste if we did not make concessions to include these capable fighters within our Cerulite Military. Often these folks of the Arcane Division are in an additional division to aid them in their tasks however they are capable.

 

The Arcane Division may be used to improve magical infrastructure, requested to aid in magical projects of the state or to bolster The Construct Division if they are capable of making constructs. Their magical prowess will be used in defense of our Most Serene March of Cerulia, though may also be used to deal with external threats if they are also within The Levy division. The Arcane Division is seen as an all round division, supporting every other division while maintaining their own structure, uniforms and training.

 

The Arcane Division will be equipped and trained properly, though in addition to this, they will be taught additional theory or even taught how to use other magics if they are deemed capable and may have been recruited from other divisions into the Arcane Division due to them being taught magic.

With an Arcane Novice at the bottom of the ranks, who have been freshly recruited and yet have to demonstrate their capabilities, which if they manage to do, will be promoted to an Arcane Centurion. These Arcane Centurions are deemed capable and aid their respective divisions with excellence. Often these Arcane Centurions are taught additional forms of magic if they are lacking diversity, though that is up to The Arcane Officer.

 

The Arcane Officer is tasked to manage all of The Arcane Division, holding supreme authority over other officers when it comes to those within The Arcane Division. They are tasked with the maintenance of magical infrastructure, the organizing of trainings, lectures, and the logistics of campaigns.

STRUCTURE AND DUTY OF THE CONSTRUCTS

With constructs essentially being manpower summoned from steel, rock and clay, to not use this advantage would be a waste. Though these individuals are seen as more than servants within our lands, often being given some form of autonomy, meaning they are allowed to work for the state and are held accountable for their actions like any other descendant.

 

The Construct Division is filled with constructs, these constructs are often seen as the elite or extremely valuable, where they much like the Arcane Division are primarily used as support forces. The constructs of this division are often assigned to other divisions to aid them, though some may remain in The Construct Division to fulfill different tasks that do not fit the description of other divisions.

 

Training and equipment of this division is often situational, more combative constructs will be kitted out with the equipment that suits them best, while a construct tasked with logistical support may not require the same kind of equipment and training. This creates a diverse group of constructs that fuels the needs of all divisions.

 

This Division is the only division that only has two ranks, a construct and The Construct Officer, since a construct will not require as much training as a descendant would when with the majority of constructs the knowledge of how to operate will be imparted to them by their creator. Each construct in service will follow 8 basic directives and any additional ones that the creator wishes for.

 

1- Never kill unless granted the go ahead by the appropriate level of authority. Otherwise detaining is your first priority. 

 

2- Never turn against your creator or The Most Serene March of Cerulia and its overlord with violence or hostile intent. 

 

3- Always follow the chain of command, somebody lower in the ranks can’t overrule someone higher in the ranks. If no appropriate chain of command is available the other directives take priority. 

 

4- Always finish a task given unless commanded to do otherwise by the appropriate rank. 

 

5- Always sustain yourself at any cost if threatened to be destroyed or attacked through physical means. 

 

6- Spooks, dark mages and undead are unlawful beings and should never be trusted in any capacity. If possible and acceptable by the law of the lands, terminate them. 

 

7- Study the law of the lands you wish to visit, abide by them and operate appropriately. If you do not wish to abide by the law of those lands, you may not visit there unless it is under supervision of a high ranking member or under direct order to break this directive temporarily. 

 

8- During the free time outside of orders you are to explore your personal goals and develop yourself as a living being.

 

These directives will ensure proper conduct alongside the received training.

 

The Construct Officer may only be a construct themselves, as a construct will be able to understand how other constructs function better than a descendant could hope they would. The Construct Officer is tasked with training, lecturing and imparting knowledge to their fellow constructs. In addition to this, they are also expected to look out for their fellow constructs and ensure that all of them are treated with respect.

RECRUITMENT INTO A DIVISION

All divisions are able to recruit new folks into their rosters, though the method on how to is equal for all except The Construct Division, who are born into this.

 

Every new recruit must swear an oath to Cerulia, The Marq and their overlord. This oath goes like this:

I, [Name] do solemnly swear without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, To pledge my undying loyalty to the Service of The Cerulite Army, to The Marq of Cerulia and their overlord for which guides these holdings, And to the citizens and subjects under the Cerulite Banner.

 

I pledge my efforts to the prosperity and defense of the institutions of The Cerulite Banner.

 

I pledge my body as a tool for The Marq of Cerulia, a friend to the commoner, a blade for the wicked.

 

I shall uphold to the principles of the code, and maintain the dignity of the division.

 

I shall obey the orders of those placed above me, and I shall never falter from this oath On my soul, honor (and on [deity applicable]) this I swear.

STAND ETERNAL WITH HONOR AND GLORY!

 

With this complete, one will be granted their uniform and required equipment post haste and become integrated within the chosen division.

 

There will be tax cuts for those who work for the state, which will allow folks to occupy a small home for themselves by simply working for The Cerulite Military.
