Ban Reason

What circumstances led to this ban?

An important pretext: My machine spirit hates me, my compooter crashes hard, and often. It has delayed my appeal process greatly... with many a crash, but this is important I swear.

The year was 2022-- late 2022 specifically. Fenn was back, and among other things so was I. I was regular joe snow elf, partaking in roleplay and pvp buffoonery. There was a war on, and I was doing my part to support the cause! For what it was worth, anyways. There was a new grinding system that from its very introduction I had despised. Though I never thought of exploits. Myself, with some other friends could produce roughly 3 stacks of leather a week, and we were proud of that. Then, in the midst of my frolicking in the mass of cows, I crashed, hard, and fast, blue screen, the works. Immediately I disconnected from LoTC. However, when I returned, to my surprise I had more than four baby cows in the enclosure. I made a muted remark of amazement to myself and continued. I didn't report the glitch, nor did I bother to breed cows further illegally.-- There was a common sentiment at the time that Fenn was under the strict gaze of moderation. I wouldn't risk exploiting the glitch to the downfall of the rest of the community. I'd go on breeding cattle normally for the duration of Fenn, and until the Fall of Malinor. Shortly before I left the server, I candidly remarked about the glitch to Adelemphii, who-- as I recall told me the team was aware of the glitch, and simply not to do it. Though she doesn't recall the event I may be mistaken.

Thus, the map change came and went. Aevos now! A new land with new opportunities for profit. Ever the faithful impersonator of Mr. Krabs, while exploring overseas in my downtime I contemplated economics. Then, it struck me. Within LoTC there was an automated money printing machine. I could simply vote for myself, and for my friends using a handy-dandy VPN I had acquired to watch American Amazon Prime. Using that, and a list of some names I began voting-- I recall it was a week or two in advance to my return to the states. This was that I would have a healthy fund of mina to draw from-- afterall, they were not playing LoTC anyways. I figured the server would get extra votes, I would get some mina and ultimately no one would get hurt. A harmless loophole. I never got their account information, nor did I ever ask for it. I just asked them to log on once a month.

Then, the return. I was sorely underwhelmed by the amount of mina I had printed through voting. Beyond that, I was reminded, insistently of my inability to breed cows at will. Though, this time I was different. I was effectively alone, at least at first. I was hungry for mina, and I would find a way to acquire it. I then commenced printing leather, simply to have it on hand. Forgoing the question of selling it, knowing I'd find a buyer sooner or later. I believe the first individual, rather, group, to purchase leather was Aaun.

I had multiple people who purchased leather after that, none ever inquiring or learning of my printing method. I felt like the Walter White of leather. With my new found, and ill-gotten gains, I gave donations to build projects, and purchased items, and paid for a small village build that never saw the light of day. Things seemed to be building to a climax, never before did I have such mineman roleplay currency!

Though with all things acquired by vice, greed, specifically, it will probably collapse. I was cooked, and in whole it was due to my inability to be content with what I had. I could've gone on producing leather legitimately. I had the man-power pool, and an impressive nest egg to draw from. But I am unfortunately an economymaxxer.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

I believe that I was never fully warned of what 'account sharing' means. I had not shared my account in the way I understood it at the time. I don't contest that I was exploiting a loophole in hindsight. But the definition of account sharing might want to be expanded upon. At least where one draws the line.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

I still have friends that play the server, among other things, such as boredom. I long to type on my keyboard pretending to be a persona like an addict longing for a hit.

In seriousness, though, I miss the community. I miss the LoTC experience, and the structure that exists for roleplay. Despite what issues I had with the grinding system, I have to recall I am not on the server to grind, instead, to rp. I have a lot of good experiences on the server, and it was a large part of my teenage-hood. To be cut off from it does hurt a part of me. Granted, I understand entirely if I am not welcome back on the server. I know my actions were not a victimless crime, and that every individual plays a part in the story of LoTC. Everything we do-- to an extent-- mechanically and roleplay wise can have an impact on the story. Things I thought were mostly disconnected from RP were just in the background of pivotal moments. Part of what makes LoTC work as well as it does is trust, trust that the other side is playing by the rules... At least nominally*. I understand that I violated that trust, and I have done my appointed time in the jailhouse. I apologize to the staff who had to check area logs, as well as those players who my actions affected roleplay-wise.

As silly as I am, I will hereby resist all horseplay, antics, capers, frolicsomeness gags, misbehavior, mischievousness, general and nautical naughtiness, nonsense, unlawful pranks, tomfoolery, clowning, skylarking, and other miscellaneous naer-good-doer deeds.
